I really really really oppose the Secret to the point where it makes me quite angry. I don't want to argue with people who have found something positive in it, but I find it demeaning to people who suffer through no action of their own. The Secret won't find parents for a 12-year-old abused kid in foster care, it won't help someone with a mental disease find wellness, it won't put food in the belly of someone in a Sudanese refugee camp. If the Secret worked at all, we could solve the world's problems with positive thinking, but that's not the way it is. There are no tricks or gimmicks to life, it's just hard. Find the joy and the beauty along the way, and try the best you can, it's all you can do.
True... I think it is a nice and welcome distraction for someone though when going through hard times, it gives hope to some, and anything that encourages positive thought is good. I do think that positive thoughts bring about positive experiences. I also think that The Secret would be a whole lot more convincing to everyone if they didn't claim that 1. you can get Ferrari's and millions of dollars; and, 2. that all the bad things happening to us were caused directly by us, like you mention CBQ. That's kind of a bit cruel to those in situations like you mention.
We must not confuse the law of attraction with the PERFECTION! In the world, there will always be sick people, poor people etc (unless some really big changes come in the future). It's like saying "if God existed there would be no wars and poverty etc". I think it's pointless. That is just life's circle as it's meant to be. Maybe one day the next generations will live happy with no wars, deceases and poverty, but now it's not that time. We can't ask for perfection. The secret can help changing little things more easily (I always find parkings), but for big things we can't do that because it's so difficult, and because in my opinion the humanity must follow a "destiny" (history repeats etc). And by the way, it might seem impossible to to make big things come true, but you must know what to ask for, also. You can't say "I want all the deceases to disappear from earth and I'm sure that will happen": you can't do that, but a scientist who is making a research about some decease can wish to succeed and people who are around him can wish the same. That is the way to big changes throught the Secret. I believe in the law of attraction and in destiny too. They are each other's opposite, but oh well. By the way, the Secret applied to big situations is barely treated in "The secret". Maybe in "The law of attraction" there's written more (I still have to read it, but my mum said it's a bit deeper and less "commercial" that "The secret").
yes we could solve the world's problems! but the thing is that people don't think and act in a positive way. and yes, that's true, the low of attraction will not find the parents for an abused kid and so on, but it could help find forces and reasons to keep moving on and live the way this abused kid wants to! i'm not sure if i could clear up my opinion, but hope you know what i mean.
