Has anyone seen the movie The Savages? In one scene in the movie the Nigerian nurse played by Gbenga Akinnagbe was kissed by Wendy played by Laura Linney after he gave his positive review of her play. After that kissed he replied "I got a girlfriend". In my mind its  This is the 21st Century and still they have Black men holding back love or advances to a WW only having be mentoring. What do you think?

    What Kind of kiss?

You know they had to go that route, they got away with IR a little bit there, which probably happened because it is an independent movie not mainstream(don't have to worry about too many people seeing it), but like I said hollywood racist is putting the fear in white actresses and black actors by leading them on to think that their fans are racist by saying "your fans will be offended" and they don't have the enough sense to see that people that are offended by interracial are racist!!!!! plain and simple and the ones who do know hollywood works are just too scared to speak up.

You hit it on the head. Hollywood likes to tease and this is one example of a "independent" movie. It is frustrating. Like I said before if I was livin extra large I would make a IR movie just my satisfaction as well as other BM/WW IR couples.

That's actually progress. He could just have as well been a white guy and spoken the same line. You guys act as if white ladies (in fact white ladies who are the leads in their respective films) go around kissing or lusting openly after black men all the time in movies. I have read good things about this film but wasn't exactly thinking about seeing it at the theters. Now I may get around to seeing it. Plus I love Linney! And my boy Gbenga plays "Chris" on one of my all time favorite shows "The Wire". I knew he had a small role in the film but I never realized it involved anything like that. Since I'm speaking about movies here are the films I've seen since the fall followed by a grade ( a rating out of a possible 10).

No Hope In Sight - 10
    Talk To Me - 7.5
    3:10 to Yuma - 8.5
    The Brave One - 6
    Michael Clayton - 8.5
    The Kingdom - 5.5
    Lust, Caution - 8
The Assasination of Jesse James - 7.5
    American Gangster - 8
    The Mist - 7.5
No Country For Old Men - 8.5
    Reissue of Poltergeist - 8
Reissue of Blade Runner - 8.5
    Juno - 7.5
    I Am Legend - 7.5
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - 9
There Will Be Blood - 9

I'm still gonna check out The Great Debaters and maybe Attonement and/or Sweeney Todd. Probably Cloverfield too. Its been a great season of films for me. An incredible year in fact.

I do not act like that, thats a 100% percent negative. You can't mean me too when you say you guys. If you did your reading me wrong, if anything they DON'T lust after blackmen all the time in movies, which wouldn't be an bad idea :p but thinking way outta the box.

And I know it's progress, but I also know that the movie an independent comedy/drama and probably was thought it was okay since it was in those 2 categories (comedy/independent) to allow interracial and not to mention nothing romantic came out of it so it was a okay for an mainstream actress to go for it.

Remember meg ryan had an independent movie that had an IR scene in it too, but since it was independent film and the script was rejected a lot, it was okay. But that was a bit of progress too because meg ryan had a revival year that year. But the problem with the independent movies is if they don't get critics raving and oscar consideration they fall out of the spot light, but since meg was having a good year with other mainstream movies out as well it lifted it a little bit to the mainstream light, but for mainstream gaurantee they need those critics talking and award nominations coming.

ever notice how cheesy the porno titles are, for the openly black man/white woman flicks...

    I mean, c'mon..........

    no class whatsoever...

If I was told the movie I was in was called "Little White Chicks..Big Black D*cks," I'd refuse to do it...

unless I was offered a lot of loot...

KennyG are you talking about the flick Against the Ropes? She plays the woman who is one of the first female fight promoters. I hated that flick since there is no IR relationship only her being a mentor to black boxers. In real life that woman has the chest of Erin Brockovich.
