Have you ever notice this effect with hollywood which is more proof hollywood doesn't want it's mainstream actresses doing interracial.

Every girl from the telelvision show friends has done an IR movie
except jennifer aniston and low and behold she is the one with the most fame.

Every girl from Sex and city has had interracial on the show and kristen davis has a IR movie(saw it once on cable can not remember the name for nothing though.) except sarah jessica parker and what do you know she has the most fame.

Same thing with ER Julianna Marguiles is more famous than Alex Kingston who was eriq la salle's love interest for a while...

They got so much proof on them it's ridiculous

I've been watching TV and movies for years now and I've have noticed that progressive pattern with Hollywood. It would take an eternity of time to explain, so here's how I see it.

I'm convinced that first and foremost Hollywood informally rates each and every actor/actress based upon their "lead" power (i.e. - how much they bring in being the lead actor). Then depending on how long their movie career takes to get off the ground, they're placed on tv for a proving ground. Now tv can take risks that movies really cannot. Namely interracial. People watching can simply changed the channel if they don't agree. But Hollywood doesn't want to spend an inordinate amount of money on a movie where onscreen Jenn Aniston or Angelina make out with a black dude risking many in the movie audience to walk out faster than with Raquel Welch in 100 rifles. The point being is that that's their star power. So you really answered your own brilliant question, Kenny. A question that has come up on this forum numerous times.

Again, look at Jennifer. She's greek (I think), gorgeous, the new kind of Julia Roberts all-american woman, that white men dream about being with. Same with Jessica. It's no secret that their movies are flicks where they strive to find the perfect relationship with the hot, knight-in-shining-armor guy. They couldn't play a plain jane or slut or something like that. America wouldn't accept that. But Courtney Cox-Arquette or Kim Cattrall can. Call it a double standard, but that's how they are rated.

Now with Julianna, that's a different story. I'm a huge ER fan. I've always liked her. But lets be real. She's not drop dead gorgeous. Yes, she was a quasi love interest of Sam Jackson's in "Snakes on a Plane," but we all know if he was a white dude, she would have booked a ticket to the mile high club in a heart beat. But that ER situation was two-fold. For one thing, the writers focused her love interest to be Doug Ross (George Clooney). It was set up that she almosts never worked exclusively with Benton, especially since the show went out of its way to keep him from all the white women on the show, Sherry Stringfield especially. The other thing is NBC as a network is verrrry white. Look at all their shows. Mostly white casts, minorities in minor roles or coming off the bench all together. In his case, they probably thought white audiences would be less bothered if they imported a white woman from overseas, thereby saying, "Well if we do IR, at least we can't get full blame for promoting it because the woman is not american." They do that all the time. Just look at the current shows out.

I'll end quickly by saying this. Don't expect Hollywood to change its racial rules anytime soon. You'd just as soon see black women dating white men first before any attempt at putting a brotha with a white chick. White hollywood is simply NOT going to give their white women away like that. No matter how far down the todem pole they may be in the rating scale.

    Ever seen "Derailed?"

    :)

but yeah..you rarely don't see the "all-american, white man's dream" kind of girl, doing IR with a brotha..

I know we shouldn't be holding ourselves to "the man's" standards of beauty and all.....

    but..

I wouldn't mind seeing Jennifer Anniston, or Julia, doing a big time (not some cornball joint) movie, with a nice chunk of it dealing with IR

Well by my calculations, I have a business aquaintance who works in the adult film industry and he tells me that in 2007, interracial porn movies were the highest sellers.

So I guess it sort of balances out on the "other" side of the spectrum doesn't it? :smt102

That is why I always say it is something blacks in hollywood have to take advantage of, but a lot of them are so scared of black women and too blind to see that racism is racism no matter who is doing it.

So all in all the only way it's going to get knocked down is by us, by us being a huge star, and by us having the balls to say something. Three things that is going to be hard to do indeed, but not impossible from a mile.

If hollywood refuses to do shit like that, then we should infiltrate hollywood and start making our own movies.Ive noticed that we still have a long way to go when it comes to the media and Hollywood. For example,Blacks are still playing stereotypical roles(criminal, thug, token black guy, etc).Ofcourse this dosent include a list celebs like Denzel Washington,Will smith, etc etc but they NEVER have a non a list black celeb as the lead character or they rarely have 1 thats not in a stereotypical role.We need more Black directors, producers, etc. The problem is that Blacks dont like to support Black directors, unless they are cooning 24/7 like Tyler perry and his ridiculous corny movies.

I agree with malikom. I also agree those Tyler Perry movies are garbage along with his show. I don't know why anyone watches his crap.

Yeah, that's true.. IR doesn't seem to show up much in big films.. and if we ever want people to see that there's nothing wrong with it, it needs much more exposure. Not just Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas in "Save the Last Dance.."

I want to see TV shows where when the white girl is bringing home a new boyfriend for family to meet, we don't all automatically know that he's going to be white. I want to see movies with BMs with more options than thug/Denzel.. (don't get me wrong, but if they hire a BM for a role where the character isn't a thug, it's usually played by Denzel.. and that's shit.)

    Anyway, that's my two cents.

Well, they've already re-made "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" so unless it's an indepent film of some sort, I don't think that Hollywood wants to re-visit that genre any time soon.

If they want to see a thug or a hoodlum, then that's a-okay to the suits in the front offices because they get a cheap laugh at our expense.

However if it's an educated brother who is very dignified, then that seems to pose more of a threat to the ignorant minded.

You might be on to something though.

There's lots of white males in America who want to see white women get 'smashed' by big Black dicks. BM/WW IR porn is one of white men's greatest fetishes.

Tyler Perry's movies are geared towards Black women and touches a chord since there are not too many flicks for Blacks. I will not hold my breath on him making a IR flick however. In one of the movies I had seen made by him,one of the characters went to jail because of a accusation by a WW in the past. I hope in my lifetime there would be good IR movies made and if I was livin large I would make one myself.

That's ironic because TP is doing a flick in which supposedly Sanaa Lathan's character will be involved in an IR affair.

But since this is probably BW/WM pairing then all must be A-OKAY!

OK for the Black female audience. That is his base, his golden goose and he will never ruffle that goose if he made a IR story of a BM/WW.

    i dont know...

Spike Lee's fanbase was/is mostly black, but he still did Jungle Fever, and it did well. His career is also still rolling.

Jungle fever played into a lot of stereotypes tho. White girl's family goes nuts because she dates a black guy. Black guy's friends look at him with 10 eyes. Then, of course, in the end they break up, because we know that ALL IR affairs are short-lived.

if tyler perry followed that recipe, his fans would see it, for vindication. If tyler perry made a positive IR movie, where a black guy and white girl actually "won" in the end, and did well with each other, his fans would cry bloody murder.

I remember the IR scenes of Spike Lee like Jungle Fever,Malcolm X,Mo Better Blues, and He Got Game. Mostly the WW is the detriment to the BM.
