    Footballer of the Week

My vote goes to Roberto Soldado with 4 goals, giving Valencia the win over Getafe, 4-2.

Agreed. But Barca is still one of the world's baddest sides. Did you see Roberto Soldado get busy in the Valencia v Getafe match? 4 goals!

Fuck a Barca and Manchester United, even though they probably will win the titles at this point.

I liked watching Thierry Henry play when he was at Arsenal, and I like many Real Madrid players, but I'm burned out on their "buy-a-team" strategy. Who are they, the Yankees? LOL

They've had some of the greatest of all time on their side, but they never gel as a team the same way Barca has.

Then again, what do I know? My favorite La Liga team (Deportivo La Coruna) is in the bottom half and my favorite former Premier League team (Leeds United) is waaaaay down in the N-Power Series (2nd Division).

Oh well, gotta have someone to cheer on.

Tell that to their 31 La Liga titles, 9 Champions League titles, 17 King's Cups and 8 Spanish Super Cups :smt019:cool:

Just kidding, but if you're going to criticize that, then by God, you must despise the top teams in England, Italy and Spain because that is all they've been doing for the better part of the last 10 years. The laws of business have simply changed - why invest time and resources in player development when you can just sign some foreign whizzkid before he turns 18 and then have him stuck in a rut in your club in limbo. Or when you need players, just fork out the dough. Never mind that players today are considerably less skilled and durable than they were in the past, or that the countries/clubs who actually invest in player academies are mostly the ones that, you know, win things - Spain (Barcelona), Netherlands (Ajax, PSV, Rotterdam, Feyenoord, AZ Alkmaar), Brazil (Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Flamengo), Germany (Bayern Munich, Hamburg SV), Argentina, Manchester United etc. It's just too clear, but clubs will rather indulge in the cheap thrills of spending.

Duly noted. When you're right, you're right, Laydeezman. And you notice you haven't heard a peep out of me about this since last week's Copa Del Rey, right? :smt004 LOL

That was some of the best Madrid play I've seen in a while. Reminded me of my favorite squad in their history: Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Figo, Raul, etc. That being said, last week I kept being reminded of the Yankees and the whole "Buy-A-Team" mentality. And that goes for all the countries you mentioned, although other than AC Milan, I don't follow Serie A closely enough to know anything. I miss the old way of doing things, investing in a player and building them up and... but oh well, change comes to all things, I guess.

That being said, I fell over laughing when Sergio Ramos dropped the cup when they got back to Madrid!

FC Barcelona played good in the First leg of the Semifinal against Real Madrid. Hopefully they Advance to Face Manchester United. I predict Barcelona as Champion of the Champions league.

LOL, figures when our title hopes are dashed we help out Chelsea by beating Manchester United.

This Arsenal team is an odd bunch indeed.

Lose to Bolton and the next week beat Man United when our title hopes are diminished. Frustrating.

Hopefully Thomas Vermaelen will be ready to go from the start of next season in central defense. I can't watch Djourou and Koscielny paired up any longer.

we need more depth and some physical players, we lose 1 player and our season is done, whether its vermaelen or rvp. not to mention as skilled as we are, we get pushed off the ball way to easily. that explains why we struggle against inferior teams like bolton.

Something is wrong with Arsenal, they seem incapable of rising to that next level of accomplishment and success.

They drop points in the most foolhardy ways and just don't have that extra edge it takes over the season to be Champions.

With Cesc off to Barca in the summer, lets see what Wenger does, wouldn't be surprised if he sat on his fanny and just plug Denilson in midfield.

    Someone help us. :)

oh god no! but the new american owner, kroenke, might push him to make a splash....because another titleless season and arsene will get the ax, not to mention with 5 other competitive teams in liverpool, man city, totenham, chelsea and man u, the cl spot isn't guaranteed like in past seasons....here's hoping he uses the cesc money to buy a quality defender or two.

We can only hope, seeing as how Wenger is obsessed with winning with this group as is to prove himself and the doubters like me right all along.
