What a way to end the first round of group stage games. This World Cup has generated so much excitement there has one been 1 draw and 2 games where less than 2 goals have been scored. The moments from Van Persie header launching the beat down of Spain, Switzerland's last second goal to beat Ecuador, Costa Rica putting it on Uruguay and the USA getting a goal from the most unlikely of players who people questioned if he actually belonged. This World Cup has had everything, blowouts, last second goals, comebacks, unlikely heroes.

I think that teams having been playing to win their games, in past world cups teams have been content to go out and get their draw in the first few games and then try to advance on the last day of group play. Not this year though its been all about putting the ball in the back of the net and getting the 3 pts. This has greatly contributed to my enjoyment of the tournament.

They had a 6-year run, three major international titles, they have nothing to be ashamed of. But now it's time for new blood. I'm thinking Uruguay, Netherlands, Belgium or Italy. Ivory Coast, Colombia and Costa Rica are also possible. But you never know with football, anything can happen. I'm happy that it's so competitive this year.

I am rooting for Germany still.
We played well against Portugal, 4:0 but not so well against Ghana, 2:2.
Let's see how the match against US goes.

US contained Ronaldo for 94.5 minutes and one momentary lapse bite them in the ass tonight. But hey after the first 5 minutes and shaky bit of play from Tim Howard if you said that we would get at least a point I would have taken it. The team is still in a great position though basically all they have to do is play 11 behind the ball vs Germany and get the 1 pt. The fact that Germany has an extra day to prep and the US played in the most brutal venue at the World Cup has me worried (England and Italy both looked like shit after playing in Manaus)t but then again Germany might not be looking to put its best foot forward either as they would win the group with a draw, basically the only things that cant happen are the US losing and Portugal throttling Ghana or Ghana beating Portugal by 2-0. But this World Cup has shown us to expect the unexpected.

    Another great day of football

What a day! I knew Belgium came to do business, but I had no idea Algeria was coming for blood. I thought South Korea had them all but put to bed. And the Portugal v. USA game was great! Despite the tie, I think Klinsmann has proven to the naysayers that he knows what he's doing when it comes to coaching and strategy. Respect the Architect.

    Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon.

    Those are my teams.
I don't know jack about soccer, but those are my teams.

My tight ass Elephants jersey just came in today and reminds me that I need to get back on my discipline working out.

Cameroon is out so far. Ghana has an uphill climb to make it to the next round on Thursday. Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria are in the clear.

I just saw a wacky video of a so called prophet who said Ghana will go through by beating Portugal. He said Ghana is advancing with a loss, draw and win at the Group stage. I am clutching at that straw

Did you see the FIFA refs rob Cote d'Ivoire with that bogus penalty? I felt like throwing my TV set out the window. Well, almost...

I had to breathe in breathe out and let out a few cuss words but sometimes you need to take your destiny into your own hands and Cote Ivoire didnt do that

Yes, they let a couple of opportunities slip past them. Salute to Argentina and Nigeria for coming out of the group stage. Musa and Messi made that match. It was raining goals!

For the third time in his career.

What was going through the Ghanaian association's head, sending Boateng and Muntari home like that? Sheer stupidity. And now Ghana is going to pay the price at the hands of Portugal.
