I just want to say thank you to all you sweet brothers who have had such kind comments about thick white women. I used to be slender, but now that I'm 48 I've developed a curvy hour glass figure (40-30-40) and was concerned men would think that was fat. Now I don't give a shite if the white guys think I should be slender. I feel much better about myself hearing that so many black men think my build is just fine. Hehe I feel the same way - I've only ever got true appreciation of my figure from black men, who tell me I'm all woman. You know what though? We black men don't see 'thick' or 'fat' the same way white guys do. Example: an attractive white woman who weights about, say, 160 pounds, would be fat to a white man, but to us, it's only thick or just a little extra meat in all the right places.

It is true that when I start to put on weight, I will get comments from white men that I am dating but none if my boyfriend of the time happens to be black. If that makes sense. There doesn't seem to be the same pressure upon women to conform and be skinny as there is in the world of the 'white majority'...not that it really affects the way I live my life anyway, but it is a little upsetting to be regarded as overweight when you don't feel it.
