    I forgot about goldeneye...

I remember her "pg13" sexual themed scenes..and yes...

    she was hot..

she made you think twice about putting your head between the legs of a foxy woman

The other brunette, who was the "bond girl" for goldeneye, wasn't bad lookin either

    Alright, back on topic...

I just saw tonight's(2/25) new episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Suprisingly, there is a bit of physical action going on between Julia and Blair's characters.

Throughout the entire episode Julia is trying to find time to meet up with Blair but she has such a hectic schedule that she rarely ever has the time to see him.

Blair's character on the other hand, isn't divorced, isn't very busy raising a child and isn't too busy for a relationship in his life.

Thus, in the end of the episode, Blair decides to call it quits with Julia(Christine). She pleads with him not to do so but in realizing how often she has time to see him, she sadly agrees and he leaves.

So they broke up because he thought she was too busy?

Sounds like the producers were looking for a way out.

    Yup, the easy way out.

Thats exactly what I was thinking when I watched the show.

It is on conservative CBS afterall so, I'm not suprised.

    It was good while lasted.

Well Christine wouldn't have a chance to be funny if she had a steady, good-looking boyfriend who's finer than her ex. The humor is that she's neurotic and single. I'm surprised they went as far as they did.

I just checked the pic in your post. DAMN! She does have some stompers. Still fine as hell, just don't let her kick you.

    Ah, Old Christine. That's it.

Meh. Don't really know what else to add to the thread topic. She hooked up with a brotha for an eyeblink. Now it's over.

I did read some viewer comments in the newspaper expressing displeasure about the new season. Christine dating Blair Underwood's character was one of the things mentioned. The relationship was called a "jump the shark" moment. If the comments I read were typical of the letters recieved by the network then it may help explain the quick breakup.

I would not doubt the series took some flak, for having IR on the show. Again, just to reiterate, IR relations between black men and white women specifically, is still not a maintstream idea yet.

Some people are still living in the past and refuse to get over what happened, on both sides. And, of course, you still have the group that wishes black people were still in chains, picking cotton on plantations, not shacking up with beautiful white women.

I remember reading comments on another website, that was about an IR couple, and people were using the N word and phrases such as "diluting their white race with retarded babies."

Of course, such comments are nonsense, but resistance is still out there, sadly.

Yes, the idea of 'white supremacy' is still in full-effect.

And the idea of blacks being ancestors of 'idiot slaves' and having 'inferior genes' is still in full swing.

You're right, many blacks still don't like seeing WW or WM take their partners while many whites feel the same way.

It's an unfortunate part of oppression but we're working on it.

The KKK still has rallies and marches all over the country so its of no suprise to me.

I'm glad to see there is some tolerance out there.

As long as they give it to us in tid bits and slowly progress the idea, that's fine.

Big changes will not happen in 60 years. Gradual steps will, though.

I know people still cringe when they see a BM(handsome or not) kiss a pretty WW. It sends chills down many people's spines.

Think back on all the movies in the 50s that only had white actors. Even the extras. Movies depicting Cleopatra had all whites. Completely inaccurate!

Anyways, not to get too far off topic...

    Yup...

and what happens when the "mainstream" uneducated audience, views such movies?

they tend to believe that egyptian history actually was that way, as depicted in "Cleopatra"

this is why you can not always believe what you read and hear..

white people have been in control of so much within this world, that it would have been easy for them to skew historical findings and have people go along with it...

honestly...who would be able to go up against what them? a black person? whatever

which is why whenever I find out about black inventors, i'm surprised. I'm surprised that they were able to create something and get it properly patented, before "the man" stepped in.

as time goes on tho, views will be challenged..

which is why NAS said "Read more, learn more, change the globe"

that's one of the biggest ways to show the people that fought for our freedom, that we appreciate what they fought and died for.

    :)

*if you have thin-skin and are offended by this post, it's directed towards a specific group of white people. not all are like that.*

You guys are really getting all deep over a damn sitcom.

There's no conspiracy here. Christine is supposed to be the underdog on the show right? Crazy and neurotic. The mean blond rich moms hate her right? So she gets the hot black dude that they all want. That makes her not be the underdog anymore and hence not as funny. When she dates a lot of weirdos like the "Sad Dad" that's funny.

It's all about the comedy guys

You think this is the 21st Century but old habits die hard in Hollywood. They tease like the dickens and let you down hard. On a new thread I will ask for the list of the best IR films and TV episodes of all time. Something that sets the standard of IR on screen.

Nothing needs to be a "conspiracy" here. That overused buzzword makes things seem more complex than they are. All it would take is enough negative feedback from viewers and a reaction from show producers to decide to end it. American viewers write letters about all kinds of shit. It's common. People write letters when they don't like a certain character, or they want a certain couple to hook up/break up or they're pissed that a character was killed off (prompting writers to bring the character back as a clone or a long lost twin). This isn't tinfoil hat "conspiracy" bigfoot type shit, this is something that happens on a regular basis.

A crazy, neurotic woman wouldn't necessarily lose her neurosis or craziness just because she dates a man whose attractive. A talented writer (or team of writers) could easily mine some comedy from the situation of such a woman "mismatched" with a handsome boyfriend, at least for a few episodes. And had Blair been a white guy they might have done just that. We'll never know. Interviews regarding Blair's role this year indicated their relationship would be a story arc lasting at least a few episodes. If the shows writers felt having her date Underwood's character would somehow make Christine less funny, it would have likely come out early on at a writer's meeting where thay discuss this stuff ad nauseum. To have the relationship end the way SoCal described it seems (especially after such a long flirtation period) abrubt and poorly written and very consistent with the "knee jerk" reactions we've seen before resulting from public feedback. Was it a creative decision? Maybe. But it does fit a familiar pattern.

As for what really went down on that show, i'll be the first to admit I don't really know. I have no specific inside info either way. Nor am saying that negative feedback definitely caused the breakup, but I do know it's a real possibility. And I say this based on past viewer behavior as well as past network response to viewers.

People, all of these episodes were filmed months ago...maybe as early as the late summer or early fall of 2007. They held on to the eps because the show was returning as a mid-season replacement which turned out to be pure luck because it meant a sitcom with new, fresh eps would be broadcast while most shows went on hiatus because of the strike. Anyway.....viewers' response (and they have been reportedly very positive in the past concerning Underwood which is why they brought him back in the first place) had nothing to do with Underwood's character breaking up with Christine because the episodes were written and filmed months before viewerrs had a chance to see them and voice their complaints. I'm sorry if this comes across the wrong way but some of you need to be able to slow down, take a deep breath, use lsome ogic and then put two and two together before jumping to conclusions.

Besides the way the ep ended makes it look a bit open-ended to me. I can see Underwood's character becoming the Mr Big of this show if it lasts that long.

But whatever happens Underwood has had one hell of a year on the TV and IR front. We all know about this show and "Dirty Sexy Money". But on the HBO show "In Treatment" he's been getting hot and heavy with one of the hot white female characters on the show as well. He's become the male version of Thandie Newton! :D

And, yes, Cleopatra was white/Greek. Only the black community's (especially black women) need to reenforce the idea that black women are glamorous and desirable keeps them clinging on to Cleopatra being black. Even in the 80s books "Black Athena" the author, who took flack for claiming that many/most of the ancient of Egyptians were black people, said flat out that Cleopatar was of Greek heritage. If black people were aware of Cleopatara's history and not influenced by what is barely more than a pop-icon status for the lady they woud not give a damn about claiming her as one of their own because she didn't do a damn thing nor did she advance Egyptian society. They should care more about Nefertitti (sp?) who was a truly marvelous queen and was black according to some historians/writers. But as long as Cleopatra is known for seducing Roman generals and politicians, many black women will care mostly about claiming her as one of their own (as will the black men who feel its their job to celebrate and promote the desirability of black female beauty).
