DC Entertainment Hit Hard by WarnerMedia Layoffs WarnerMedia began its rounds of layoffs earlier today amid restructuring efforts, which have reportedly affected DC Entertainment. CBR has confirmed that the layoffs are real, though DC is not commenting on specific names or executives impacted by today's events. Jim Lee remains the Chief Creative Officer for DC and works across all of WarnerMedia’s creative groups and talent to drive the connective tissue between story, creative, and media, and will continue to be involved on the publishing side as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Universe also suffered layoffs, with a majority of the staff reportedly let go. Variety reported earlier that approximately over 800 WarnerMedia staffers were to be laid off today, with approximately 650 Warner Bros. staff and 150 to 175 HBO staffers let go. The moves come as WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar looks to streamline the WarnerMedia business with a greater emphasis on HBO Max, the company's new streaming service that offers content from Warner Bros., DC, Sesame Street Workshop, Turner Classic Movies, Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll and Looney Tunes. DC is slated to have a big presence at DC FanDome on Aug. 22. DC FanDome is a 24-hour virtual fan convention, with scheduled appearances by a number of DC creators, along with the first look at anticipated films such as The Batman and The Suicide Squad.
What happened the last time a studio with major comic book properties had financial issues? Could we see a filthy rich mouse take ownership of a certain filthy rich bat................Hmm?
That rumor/theory has been floating around for a while now considering that it's no secret that Warner Brothers/Media views the comic book publishing ventures they have with DC as not a viable revenue stream. Can't figure out why that is.
AT&T, the parent company of Warner Media, is carrying more than $150B in debt. They're slashing jobs across every division and ramping up focus on HBO Max, their freshly minted streaming platform. Unfortunately, DC Entertainment is not being spared in restructuring.
They will combine the DC universe properties with HBO Max and dissolve DC Universe. I can assume that they already planned to do this, but the timetable has changed.

The Other History of the DC Universe Years after the completion of the second outing of his alternate history series The American Way, 12 Years A Slave screenwriter John Ridley is returning to comics to reveal The Other History of the DC Universe. The long-awaited series, exploring DC’s lengthy comic book mythology from a new angle, has been newly scheduled for a November release. The five-part series, originally announced in 2018, re-examines important and iconic moments from DC’s comic book history from the point of view of characters from traditionally disenfranchised groups, including Jefferson Pierce — better known as Black Lightning — and Renee Montoya (The Question). Giuseppe “Cammo” Camuncoli, Andrea Cucchi, and colorist José Villarrubia are the artists for the series, with covers from Camuncoli and Jamal Campbell (Far Sector, Naomi). https://bit.ly/2DTKNyi
For those with an Xbox One, I have a question: How long does it take to load up before you get to the menu?
Halo Infinite Delayed Microsoft and 343 Industries are making the decision to delay the launch of Halo Infinite to 2021. 343 Industries says the delay is related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as employees have shifted to work from home and development of large games has been particularly difficult for many in the industry. https://bit.ly/30TZVVj
This is a bummer This game was my entire reason for saving for a new console this year. The only other next-gen game that even piqued my interest was SpiderMan: Miles Morales but games like that don't have the biggest replay factor and there are rumors that new games are going to be $70.00+, Halo, on the other hand, was going to be "free" with the game pass service I already subscribe to and it has massive replay value.
The finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was just as good as the rest of the season. They put great work into making sure they had a grand finale. They scared half of the fans with that Daisy scene!! But with the way Endgame explored time and the way AoS explored it I don't think they're exactly in the original timeline. I know what Fitz was trying to say to be possible, but so much went on this season with the timelines. I think they got sent in the future somehow somewhere after the snap in inifinty war if they did return the original timeline. And the MCU movies are in the endgame TL. My theory. One thing that made me think that is how they subtly hint at Mack being Spoiler in Nick Fury's role in a new SHIELD
They all but directly implied in the finale that their timeline was never the MCU timeline. Between stuff that happened at the start of last season (biggest clue was life going on as if The Snap never happened) and the "waves" created all the way through to the return to their "original" timeline, there was no way they were ever in the MCU timeline. Guarantee you this is the way they will treat the Netflix Marvel characters if/when they ever decide to use them in the MCU proper by claiming that those shows happened in an alternate timeline. Also could be how Spider-Man could "disappear" once the third joint Sony/Disney move is done and Sony claims solo use of the character for their potential live action Spider-Verse movies.
