The first two had some quirks but I thought they were decent movies. The third one and the Wolverine movie were pure trash. I liked First Class. I do wish they had actually used the original lineup from the comics. I didn't go see it in the theater but waited for it to come out on DVD because of the X-3 and Wolverine. From what little I've heard it's suppose to be set in Japan and the villain or at least one of them is going to be the Silver Samurai. Don't know if it's flashback like the first one or set in the present and don't really care. I'm not fucking with any Wolverine movies after that last one........
The biggest problem with The film version of Wolverine is Hugh Jackman. He is lacking the feral menace to bring that character to life. And like so many other comic to movie adaptations they fucked up a key component of the character, and that is his fighting prowess. Wolverine is supposed to be a Ninja level martial artist, with super senses, agility and not mention six razor sharp daggers attached to his hands. But in the previous movies he cant fight worth shit, I mean in the original X-Men movie he got his ass handed to him my Mystique for gods sake!
Lol maybe he learns his shit in japan I do like the haircut and face tho I think they got that part right
Although I enjoyed the first two X-Men movies for what they were, decent adventure flicks, being an old school 70's-80's comic nerd, you don't even want to get me started on all the "WTF" things that went down in the movies from my POV. But I guess I can't complain or be surprised considering some of the "WTF" things they have been doing with the X-Men period in the comics now that I've noticed browsing some of the newer comics coming out whenever I take my kids to the local comic shop from time to time.
I started watching these myself. I may just create a YouTube playlist strictly for Ghostbusters. Hehehe, old memories which have me stoked. And watching them...I forgot how...mature the content was back then.
Did anyone see the recently leaked comic con cut of the new Man of Steel trailer? It was great! I'm not talking about the recent trailer released with him as a kid and then at the end he is flying into the air. Not that one. The one from comic con. It looks pretty good. Finally get to see him whomp on someone and we get a little meaty layers to him as well, like choice vs destiny to be a good guy and become 'Superman' as we know it. I'll admit, I can see how fans could get a little misty eyed while watching it. If you can catch it out there before it gets wiped away by the studio, do it! I'd post a link to where I saw it, but it has already been taken down.
So Marvel Comics decided to butch up Ms. Marvel, and change her name to Captain Marvel (never mind the fact that there was already a Black female Captain Marvel). I guess they figure that all the men who thought she only existed to be sexy, will start to respect her, now that she looks like a militant lesbian. Before After
Just stupid. If they wanted to do a Captain Marvel with ties to the original Kree version, just bring back Genis-Vell. I always thought that the way they killed him off was bogus. Still don't know why it was done either, as he seemed to be a popular character.
For as much as I like this series I really dislike the way they portray Captain America. I mean the man is a WW2 veteran, but they make him way to timid in his approach to fighting. He is almost literally a boy scout. I hope when they start the next Avenger series they choose to go with hard, pragmatic version of the character that is in the current comics.
Here's the thing, Captain America like Superman are boy scouts because both characters at their core are symbols of idealism. Both characters play off the idea of a person being at their best and always doing the right thing even if it's seen as not being the most practical thing. Once you start playing Captain America more as soldier rather than "super soldier/super hero" then he becomes just like every other ordinary soldier, just amped up physically. All well and good for the movie take of the character but not the best thing for the comics IMO. That's one of the reasons for the current decline of comics as an industry. Moving the characters away from what made them the characters they are and making them into something that others think they should be.
