Animation, design style, and possibly story too needs to be better. It looks like another cookie Japanese made film. They've screwed up Transformers with all of their variations. They should have allowed an American animation company to do it. Or if they were to get a Japanese company, get the people who designed Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop. Not this WB/CW morning animation. Plus I didn't see Panthro from the original series.

Anime style animation is now the big in thing so even if they did get an American animation company chances are they would have gone with one that leaned towards an anime design style. Panthro's in the new series. I posted up this picture a couple of pages back when I made an intitial post in regards to the new Thundercats series. Panthro's new design for this series I can definitely say I'm disappointed with. I'll wait until the first 2 or 3 episodes have aired before I give my overall accessment of the show.

Apparently they got one of the co-creaters of Avatar: The Last Airbender to work on this. If this is show is even half of what that show was, I expect it to do pretty well. It's a shame the movie was so deg on terrible.

Yes, Avatar:The Last Airbender was a very good series. Supposedly there are plans to do a follow up Avatar series that takes place several decades after the events of Last Airbender and focuses on a new Avatar. I'll try to find the info I came across some months ago if I can and post it.

It maybe big, but I do recall a new version of He-Man which came out years ago and this animation style and frames were absolutely good for its time. Here's a piece of an episode. Observe how the animation is, as well as the fight sequence. I wonder what will become of animation once weeabooification takes greater root.

I actually have that very updated He-Man series on DVD. Yes, the animation and production are very good. Don't get me wrong, I don't like that every animated show now wants to be anime style. I prefer the idea of animated shows each having their own destinctive animation and character design style. But "Hollywood" is what it is. Anime and CG abimation are the in styles so that's what most of the animation producers making shows will run with until the next big in thing comes along. It's just like the whole 3-D fad that's in now with big screen movies.

The Last Airbender : Legend of Korra.

Here is the info for the follow up series to Avatar : The Last Airbender.

Nickelodeon has announced a new series from the creators of cartoon epic “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

The new show from Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko has the working title of “The Legend of Korra” and will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2011. [For an interview with the creators, go here.]

A live action theatrical movie based on the cartoon series called “The Last Airbender” was released earlier this summer to pans from critics and better-than-expected box office. The movie was directed by M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”), who has expressed interest in doing a sequel. Paramount, the studio behind the film, is watching the movie’s international grosses before making firm plans about any follow-ups.

The world of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is one in which there are four nations–Air, Water, Earth and Fire–each with “benders” capable of controlling the elements. In the first series, a young airbender named Aang is revealed to be the Avatar, someone capable of manipulating all four elements, and prophesied to help save the world. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” debuted on Nickelodeon in 2005 and aired for three seasons.

Nickelodeon said in a release that “The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the events of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and follows the adventures of the Avatar after Aang – a passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl from the Southern Water Tribe named Korra.”

Korra’s quest eventually leads her to Republic City–the epicenter of the world of “Avatar.” A metropolis powered by steampunk-type technology, the city is inhabited by people from all nations. Korra finds that Republic City suffers from rampant crime and is also dealing with an anti-bender revolt. Korra is tutored by Aang’s son, Tenzin, in the ways of airbending.

Maybe I went a wee too hard on anime. I enjoy anime like the next person, but I think there are certain anime styles that would work better. Or perhaps get the likes of Production IG or ROBOT or BONES to help with some CGi scenarios. I was impressed with the way how they handled the likes of Ghost in the Shell and the new Neon Genesis Evangelion, so we should see models like that.

But on more traditional sense, if Thundercats were more akin to the style of Samurai Champloo, I'd be more forgivable.

I'm a big fan of anime series, but I don't like that mostly every animated show that's currently being produced now seem to want to go the anime design and style route. Shows just start to look like they all come off an assemble line and lose their own signature style and design feel when they do that IMO.

Brandon Routh-Monster Fighter vs Taye Diggs-Vampire Lord.

This movie comes out later this month. This is like an old trailer that was put out last year while the movie was in post production.

Glad I'm not the only one who knows about Warhammer 40K around here.

Holding out for a live-action movie of epic proportions to be made one day.

Black Dynamite Animated Series Coming to Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in 2012.

Info taken from Film School Rejects.com.

The fury of Black Dynamite is legendary and will not be confined to just one or even two feeble mediums! Following recent news that the blaxploitation parody would make the jump from film to comics (courtesy of Ape Entertainment), it was revealed on last Wednesday April 6th that a new Black Dynamite animated series is in the works for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

The story of an ex-CIA agent with vengeance in his heart and uncommonly good luck with women, "Black Dynamite" premiered in limited release in 2009, became an instant success with critics, and has since become a beloved cult home video. Based on the Michael Jai White film, the animated "Black Dynamite" will be Executive Produced by "The Boondocks'" Carl Jones and star much of the live-action film cast in voice-over roles, including White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Byron Minns, Clifton Powell and JB Smoove.

It's a great movie & I hope they do a good job on the animated version. I'm looking forward to finding out & my son is pretty excited to see it, too.

I have a morbid feeling that this could turn into one hell of a racist joke.
