the measels out break

Anti vax is a huge movement and has been for some time. I think most people would be very surprised! I realize I live in California and things are twisted here. They recently increased the requirements for schools, but basically children can be enrolled in schools without being vaccinated (or fully vaccinated) by simply signing a waiver. Recently this has been changed a bit, but it's still very easy to get around. The conversation is that they are going to step up the requirements a bit more now after this measles situation.

It used to be so bad in fact that parents who couldn't find their children's shot records would just be told to go ahead and sign the waiver because it was easier for the schools.

I actually do understand some of the concerns out there but there are better methods than to not vax. Some prefer an alternative schedule which is another conversation.

And yes some of the vaccinations do "wear off" over time. We had an outbreak of pertussis here, actually a few. Now it's recommended that children get pertussis shots again in high school and that adults are given them as well to help protect babies.

 

Tonight they are reporting the resurgence of "measles parties" in California to expose children to purposely get measles for those who don't want to vaccinate.

People are crazy.

 

Most sensible thing I read all day

 

They might let them sign a waiver in public school but they won't let them play sports or participate in overnight field trips if they are not vaccinated ...some clubs even require shot records....most outside school athletic sports won't take your child if you don't have shot records to submit with payment

 

I know someone close to me whose young son was vibrant, smart active, talkative, spoke two languages...got his vaccines..then within a short time, became autistic and ADD.
And he hasn't come out of it to be a normal man for 20 years and counting...

 

Seriously? Which vaccines? At what age? What do the doctors say?

 

I dont know the specific vaccines and remember, this was 20 yrs ago when vaccines weren't ever considered a possible cause, but for well over a decade, it's been our repeated conversation about how he changed after his vacs.
