Has anyone watched the MCU's Helstrom on Hulu? I'm nearly through the season and it's been incredible. The approach so far is reminiscent of the way FX handled Legion, about Prof. Xavier's super-powered son. The show handles the mythology in a self-contained way, in which it isn't reliant on the broader universe for its storytelling. It stands up well on its own.
HIM which centers on a promising young football player (Tyriq Withers) taken under the wing of a legendary quarterback (Marlon Wayans) of a dynasty team nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career.
I watched back when it originally came out. Kind of a shame that it came out when & where it did because it could have been a good way to introduce the more darker, grounded supernatural side of things in the MCU compared to Doctor Strange. I think that's one of the main reasons why they are having issues with rolling out Blade in the MCU. Blade should be a dark supernatural action movie but they seem to want to put him in the PG-13 lane rather than the hard R lane. After the seeming success of Daredevil : Born Again, hopefully that kills that wanting to go PG-13 logic concerning Blade.
‘Sinners’ Slides Into an Elite Tier for Horror Movies at Global Box Office From Collider.com Having completed a month of release in theaters worldwide, director Ryan Coogler's Sinners has passed yet another milestone at the global box office. This weekend, the movie faced direct competition in the form of Final Destination Bloodlines, which, in fact, beat its opening weekend record from last month. The sixth installment in the long-running action franchise, which had been lying dormant for 14 years, grossed $51 million in its opening weekend at the domestic box office, while Sinners slipped to the number three spot. That being said, the movie made $15 million domestically in its fifth weekend and added nearly $4 million from overseas territories for a cumulative international haul of $76 million. Domestically, the film’s total box office collections stand at $240 million. Sinners has now overtaken the all-time classic The Exorcist at the domestic box office, and is now the third-biggest horror movie of all time. The list is topped by the first It, with Steven Spielberg’s breakout blockbuster Jaws at number two. Sinners’ global haul now stands at a terrific $316 million; the movie is eying anywhere between $350 million and $400 million when the dust settles. It’s a remarkable result for an original genre film, but Coogler has systematically climbed the Hollywood ladder, proving himself at every budget level. His breakout movie, Fruitvale Station, was a tiny indie. He then made the Rocky spin-off Creed, which grossed over $175 million worldwide against a reported budget of $40 million. Two mega-budget Marvel movies — Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — followed, and grossed a combined total of over $2 billion worldwide. Each of those films cost over $200 million to produce. Sinners comes with a reported price tag of $90 million. The movie reunites Coogler with his longtime creative collaborator, star Michael B. Jordan, whose career box office has now passed the $1.5 billion mark domestically. Coogler himself is among the 25 highest-grossing filmmakers in domestic box office history. With Sinners’ success — the movie holds a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score — he has elevated himself into an elite group of auteurs who are granted unusual freedom within the studio system.
