    are there any good modern horror films that don't have some kind of "gotcha" ending? It's a trope I've really come to loathe.

    Horror Games "Agony" and "Scorn"

    AGONY

    Want a very gruesome depiction of hell, look no further than this hellish (pun intended) game. This definitely is inspired by many of horror movies and strong depictions of what a place of torment would look like. Anyway, be sure to enjoy this trailer.

    SCORN

    An exploration horror adventure where humans have "evolved" to where their bodies can live without skin seems like a novelty of an idea, until you realize that the world feels all the more painful. I don't really have a clue on the overall game, but the atmosphere and feel of it can generate plenty of scares of a really uneasy kind.

    Read his book and I actually has nightmares about demons over it. Same with the movie. Even after seeing it many times it always creeped me out.
