Something for you all to watch - Saturday 7.30pm Channel 4. Follows on from the success of last year's Great British Asian Invasion, this irreverent programme tells the REAL story of Britain's black population, from the late 1950's to the present day. Should be interesting to watch - and they've actually put something good on British TV on a Saturday night for a change!!!
British TV has always been good. It is nice to see some diversity in their history programming. I wished there is a documentary of the arrival of Black US troops in the UK during WWII.
living in the Uk, i have seen programme like this before and it always annoy me, as a welsh girl they never highlight the rich multi-cultural places we have in wales. one of the first culturally mixed places in the UK was Cardiff and has the least race problems in the UK because of this. This was in the late 19th century. Not for the best reasons of course, but people came over here to work in the docks, and one of the first docks to integrate was Cardiff. I feel sad my capital is often left out of historical stories about race i don't know why it is just wanted to share this little bit of geographical history with you all.
Paul Robeson I remember a special about Paul Robeson and his concert via telephone to Wales. He had a lot of love for the Welsh.
i don't think it has shrunk. i think the overall population has grown and we have loads of asian/ eastern europeans here now.
