In the show, Martin Luther King Jr. had awakened from a coma after being shot in 1968 and saw how today's black community had lost their spiritual and moral values. And the white community called him an unpatriotic traitor to America for saying that America should use the "turn the other cheek" approach to fighting terrorism.

So Martin decided to create his own political party. But when he attended the rally for the party, he was basically ignored as the attendees were only concerned with listening to loud hip-hop and collection-plate-rattling black "preachers." When he attempted to speak, no one listened until he spoke to the masses in the only language they understood. He got angry and called the whole lot a bunch of lazy niggas and said he was moving to Canada. Only when he started using the n-word did the black people listen. It was just the tough love they needed. Then the NBA players, rappers, and other celebrities started coming together and making positive changes in the black community. At the very end of the show, MLK died in Vancouver, Canada and Oprah Winfrey was elected President. The Christmas Boondocks show was great, but this Martin Luther King Jr. episode was even better.

And as a black man living in MLK's hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, seeing a show like this has special meaning for me. Atlanta is a city of transplants from all over the USA and it's very sad for me to say that many people no longer care about Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. They almost act as if he was a sellout or an Uncle Tom for trying to get all races of people to come together with nonviolent social change. Some people seem to think that it's impossible to share love for BOTH MLK and Malcolm X, as if there was some unspoken competition between the two. I had a conversation with a girl from New York about MLK and all she did throughout the whole dialogue was make fun of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Southern accent. How quickly black people have forgotten about him and the life he gave. It's sad, really.

RIP, MLK and thank you Boondocks.

I doubt this very seriously, especially if the cartoons targets controversial issues only to encourage more critical thinking of the pressures of society, like race relations and IR.

I totally agree with you, SardonicGenie! I'm glad that this show finally appears in Canada. It's pure satire, but only those who open their minds to it will see that point.

The show cleverly touches many social issues serious enough to scare many people because they're too thought-provoking. But, at the same time, it gets some of these people's attention because it's a cartoon.

lol. In my opinion, the show is aimed primarily at black people but certainly does not exclude others from watching it. Conservatives say its racist but that is because they always look for someone to point the finger at when it comes to racism.

well i luv this show, it openedaaaaaaaa llllllll ooooooo ttttt of things to my 13 year old eyes, i cant wait for season 2 in march (thats too long away T_T)

G that was a good episode although since there are some like Andy Young know King more closely than anyone. He would never say the n-word but he will use strong words like Bill Cosby.

I think the show is funny but obviously it can't be soley intended for black folks since it is on a predominately white network. I watch some of the episodes and think "most white people will not understand what he is talking about". But either way the show is fucking hilarious at times! :lol:
