I do agree about the seated leg press and any machine actually. My old HS coach was adamant about us using dumbbells or barbells and told us to stay away from the seated chest press machine. Machines balance the weights for you and don't let you really work on stabilizing muscles and the core. Free weights and dumbbells are the best, imo. I remember having a conversation about squats compared to seated leg press before, and was trying to explain why free weight squats are better. This article sums that up.
the only thing for me is I have bad knees so the free weights versus machine , I would probably do machine legg press. When I saw the article you can get creative and use dumb bells and do modified squats. you know like you are sitting down and standing up .
