History Jonesborough is located between Johnson City and Greeneville, and is the oldest city in Tennessee. It is a beautiful area with a beautiful view of the mountains. There are small communities and sub-divisions, but it is mostly country. Downtown Jonesborough is popular with tourists. http://www.jonesboroughtn.org/ Re the meth/drugs: That is a problem everywhere, but less so here than in larger cities. In smaller towns the locals are less inclined to put up with that sort of thing, and anything out of the ordinary gets noticed. Johnson City and Morristown get more of that type of action. Perhaps your wife thought so because the Washington County Detention Center is in Jonesborough.
