I always thought that I would be traditional with taking my husband's name. However, since I'm older, I'm known by my name for work purposes; and it would be a lot of legal paper work to change my firm's name. At this point, I'm thinking that I would probably just keep my last name for work purposes, but legally change my name to his. Of course, that's what I'm thinking today, and it could change when/if the time comes. It would be something that I would want to discuss with the groom to be. I would want both of us to be happy with the decision. It's all about compromise. :D

Yeah, I agree with you there Francie :)
I don't see the big deal with taking you husbands' name. I wouldn't feel like I was 'owned' just because I took his surname, but neither would I feel like I was doing it to prove my undying love. To me it's just a little tradition that I have no problem following. It's nice.

Unfortunately for me, if I marry a British guy, my name will lose all of it's foreign charm! Hah. If (MASSIVE BIG 'IF'! We've only been together six months...) my boyfriend and I get to that stage, my surname will be 'Palmer.' Now my Russian name has a certain mysterious charm to it, but 'Val Palmer' just sounds like something of Coronation Street, which is why I will never, ever allow anyone to shorten 'Valeriya' :p
