Did any of you have summer jobs as a kid? LOL..I never did, I tried and then one day I didn't cut the grass and my dad make me quit. (jerk) saying that "You job at home comes before the extra money in your pocket"

I babysat, mowed lawns, helped an old couple from church work in their garden from age 10 to 14. I also worked one summer at the public library, one at Sonic & 2 summers in the kitchen at the local hospital during high school.

I was a camp counselor in the summertime, and during the year I would work at my uncle's restaurant.

My summer job was taking care if my sisters, both 2.5 years and 8 years younger than myself. Making sure I did my own chores and they did theirs.

My reward? Not to get a whoopin. I never knew I had the option not to bother about what they did and just take care of my own. I was put in charge of them and thought I had to get them to do their chores or ELSE.

There was no way out for me.

Summer jobs since the age of 14 - a candy striper at a retirement home, but as I was a tomboy the next summers I planted fir trees instead. It was piece work so you hauled ass and was completely drained by the end of the day but it made some good money for a teenager.

Worked as an assistant to the local junior high & school building custodians back where I grew up from the ages of 13 thru 16. Helped to do the upkeep & maintenance of the buildings and school grounds in preparation for the upcoming school semesters.

I worked for my Uncle's janitorial business when I was 13 years old. Was a great experience in learning how to work with a crew. There were eight janitorial crews. Had a chance to work with each of them. Worked with a woman crew leader for the first time. Learned how to buff floors, lawnwork, landscaping, wash windows, worked with people from different races and backgrounds.

I didn't have any summer jobs. My first job was when I was 17 and I had already dropped out of high school a year or two before that. So my first job was a year round job.
