Yeah i've read the site many times. It's very funny because a lot of it seemed uncanningly true.

i thought this site was a few years behind the internet. but no! the site was funny at first, but the more i read it the more i realized that i fit into most of the satirical stereotypes. then again I live in san francisco.....

It should be titled "Stuff Upper-class Suburbanites Like (and
not exclusively one race)." I grew up in a small-town middle-class
area, have lived in an urban area, and now live in the country. I can't relate to that list, at all. I've never tried sushi, hate dogs (esp. since I worked for a law firm that made a large chunk of its money from dog bite
cases), never been in a Whole Foods or similar store. The only person
I've known that shops at WF is black. I like Obama, but what does that have to do with being white? I know very few white people that like him. Our county is mostly white, and Hillary won
our Dem primary by 72%.

I loathe suburbia, and can't relate to the people
that live there. I absolutely hate this list, even if it's a joke
- I don't find it funny, that it's supposed to characterize all
white people. I mean no offense to the OP of this thread - I just
can't stand this blog! :lol:

Ok, I'm confused and embarrased to even ask: what is a white woman exactly, is it the color of the skin or is it the fact that she comes from north america? I am latin and in my country I am not considered white even though I have white skin. Im terribly sorry for this dumb question, lol.

The reason I ask is because I can't comment on the 'stuff white people like' list because I am latin! Black and white people are the same in my country and in latinamerica, there's almost no issue on the difference of colour. Latinamerican people are the same no matter the colour. Even if someone comes from another country we don;t see the colour, we notice that the person is either white or black because of the skin but there's no difference on customs or habbits.

Some people might ask, well then if there is no difference in colour in latinamerica or in your country then why did you even join this webpage? My answer would be: I noticed that the type of men that I discibed as attractive to me in Canada were defined by other pepople as 'black men'. So in order for me to make myself clear and understood I have to say 'I like black men'. There appears to be a difference in habbits or customs depending on the colour of the person. I wasnt aware of that. Now I know why there is a list in the first place. Still I can't comment on the list because I dont get it. :?

the list is just a joke anyway...it was all in fun, so don't read too deep into it.

as far as being white...here in the states, people attach "white" or "black" to a person's skin color. i do understand where you are coming from with having different standards of color lines. i have some really close friends from the bahamas, and the "color system" is totally different there too - people aren't "black" or "white" in accordance with american culture...it's totally different. they use the terms "yellow" and "red" to describe what most americans would call light-skinned. it's interesting to read about how differently cultures perceive the same thing. :wink:

 

When I was reading about this topic I was so in shock because I had such a different perspective! ......Im just glad someone understands.

LOL I don't even know what half that stuff is. And of the stuff I do know, I don't like half of that either.

The list seemed like someone who (if they were white) would be considered 'bogan' in australia wrote it because they were angry at people who have bigger brains than them.
