I think women know what they want as much as men do; just that a woman usually wants something different than a man. I also admit that over the past few years I've been attracted to and had a relationship with a couple bad-boys. I also have known several men who have been attracted too (and still are) bad-girls. Women who have no issue with having money and status and play on the side. Its alway a 2-way street :smt045

ive been around the types of women who do like them, they love to blame all men when thier bad boy messes them about, bad boys are a old worn out topic, and alot of women fall for the fairy tales about them, they are usualy bums, no future, cant dress, in and out of prison, enjoy

but the issue here we need to accept there is psychology behind this. as a former nice guy geek myself, i can understand the frustration of lots of men and teenager guys out there scracthing their heads asking why.

both sexes have their issues. Men are attracted to easy going sluts at times (tiger woods, hugh grant and the governator come to mind) and women are attracted to bad boys when they are young. Why?



I think alot if has to do with the culture in which they are raised. Same goes for men. its the environment. its about the issue of temperment too and what a bad boy is to some one. and what it really means.

I think also sense of humor plays a humor, your looks and her looks (level of sex appeal), sense of fashion and your overall charisma play a role too.

For some women (especially african american) that i know a man needs to be a cross between Eddie Murphy, 50 Cent and have a 6 figure income, a sports car and be great in bed too.



LL Cool J is an example of a pretty faced man, who has a slight thug tatoo look, but is clean cut, alpha male and confident looking. and raps about SEX and party all the time. and the women love him for it

recently i met some pretty russian girls at a cultural center here and they were very nice and down to earth. and found me to be fun and interesting. and wanted to hang out with me.

but i must say that i would bore the average american pretty party girl in the 18-30 range. i would bore her. most nice guys would bore her because of her "programming"

the key is to work on your game, be nice guy and surround yourself with women who you know will appreciate that. and stop trying to live the fantasy of the rap video when you know that you aren't "bad" enough to attract women who want that.

 

Dudes need to just accept the truth and do them!! If you are naturally bad then it shows but for the lame ass dudes that are nice trying to be bad!! It will get you rejected even more.

I agree, those are all, Major, red flags but some girls can’t get enough of the Bad Guys.

 

Most women prefer a man with an edge to keep the inevitable boredom of a relationship at bay, but the term "bad" is qualifier that needs to be qualified. A bad motherfucker that has been spawned in the black community is something that the average woman of any stripe cannot handle.

I was either smart or lucky enough to know real bad boys were a waste of time and energy. And semi-bad boys make good toys, but you put them away when you're done playing with them - they're unreliable and can also be trouble. I never tried to keep a bad boy, though I played with a few.

 

I'm still kind of amazed how this thread went. So few people have pointed out that the study does not actually say what the original post suggests. Confirmation bias, I suppose.

Here is what the actual study says. Just go and read it, if you don't believe me. From most attractive to least attractive:

1) Ashamed
2) Proud
3) Happy

So the most attractive guys are those who look "ashamed." That doesn't fit the "thug" stereotype at all. But everyone liked the "girls like bad boys" story so much we all ran with it.

They accomplished this by lumping 1) and 2) together. Yes, "proud" is above "Happy," but "ashamed" is ahead of "proud." Solution? Frame it by saying "Proud and ashamed" are ahead of "happy." Technically true, but it distorts the actual findings.

 

Yes, either the article is poorly written or study not executed with an eye towards a fine delineation between pride, moodiness, and shame in terms of what rates higher. That said, you're ranking is incorrect as well because it doesn't explicitly state that shame was seen as more attractive than pride, only happiness.

With regard to shame, why would a person (male or female) reflect such an emotion without the precursor of "bad" thoughts or behavior?
