http://finance.yahoo.com/news/9-unbelievable-student-loan-horror-stories-165512874.html student loans are the next bubble. 1) best thang is to stay away but things happen 2) budget to get out. 1A) list some programs that you can get grants/scholarships 2A) what would you can do to get out of debt example: There is a program if you work for the public (govt jobs) and or nonprofit agencies then after 120 payments your debts are forgiven.
Remember that school loans are not erased in bankruptcy. Still got to pay it. There are a bunch if issues though. Do you really need to go to a private school? DId you look at how much you would get paid? just a few problems with the article.
thats a darn good point. if your aspirations is to be a teacher then why go to yale unless you want to work in the white house or something that is high profile in the education field then yeah because yale is a good school but its a great place for connections. BUT if you are just going to be a teacher then yale is too much. if you want to be an atty or a doctor then yeah i can see that
that's very true...I keep saying this but PSU used to be like 7k/yr in state, compared to like 25/yr at private schools back in 00-01. The tuition is like 13k in-state now, but private schools like drexel are even higher at 30-40k/yr. If your state school is academically reputable like Penn State, you're better off going there. A degree from there will match and probably go farther than a degree from drexel, at a fraction of the price. even cheaper are the community colleges. If you're smart, you'd do 2 years there and finish out your bachelors at a 4 year. Big savings. graduating from yale doesn't guarantee anything either. you have plenty of ivy bums, due to the fact that the competition is much stiffer and you're less likely to be noticed by professors and employers. the plus for the ivies now..some of them...is that they're offering loan-free tuition. They finally figured out that with their billion dollar endowments (ridiculously higher than most schools), they could stop screwing people over with loans.
it's horrible but you know, old habits are hard to break i've been to community college of Phila before, and the instruction for the most part was solid. I had professors shelling out work like there wasn't a tomorrow, and still expected you to work for good grades (one even warned us that if we were at CCP to 'shore up' our grades, we were in for a big disappointment). The only drawback was that there seemed to be more less-motivated students there, than at traditional colleges with some degree of entry requirement. That aside, if you go there to learn, you'll pick up a lot and will be ready for a 4 year college. If I could turn back time, I would have spent more time at CCP and would have been loan free like a mothafucka by now lol.
Another thing that I wondered is if these people are going to northeastern schools. Many of the south schools are around 100/credit.
dunno but many private schools are NOT bang for the buck at all hell online schools like U of Phoenix and Walden charge as much as traditional private schools :smt119
