I saw this! And congrats to him. Unfortunately for certain parts of social media they focused in on his mentioning of having a white wife during his speech.

I get that perhaps his wording wasn't the greatest, but the reaction felt like something held in their holster waiting to get pulled out as an excuse not to celebrate his accomplishment and to write him off.

It is becoming a stereotype per usual because the MAGA or 'tap dancin' black guys that defend racism tend to have white significant others. So they automatically are triggered to be under the assumption that any black guy that is with a white woman is in the 'sunken place' or a "coon".

You are right. His words could've been a little better there. It sounded like he just tried to hard to sound righteous in his answer. Nothing more than that. Because he did highlight the lack of black head coaches in the NAACP.
