This is so incredibly disturbing and unfortunately South Africa isn't isolated in this sexist/rapist/violent/controlling mentality. Friends in the military have told me that Afghanistan is just the same. What can we do to end this?
I am not certain but I do believe rape is considered a crime unless it's your wife then it's ok. But he told me he knew for a fact that children (boys & girls), women and men were being attacked regularly without punishment except maybe a "stray bullet" here and there. Just brutal. I cannot even fathom the mindset (or lack of mind) that would allow someone to rape another.
I think it´s a "middle" dangerous place, except (Joburgh). But they are really busy to go behind these crimes in SA, especially criminal acts against women and children, I am not sure, but I believe the Scorpions take care about. I was never feeling in danger in SA or Namibia, in contrast to many other countries..
You know, it's horrible to say it, but I can believe that... I dated a South African guy last year and he was the nicest, sweetest, kindest person for the first few dates. Then when I wouldn't sleep with him he quite literally pinned me down and I saw a horrible new side to him. Thankfully he was really little so I managed to push him off and get the fuck out of there.
You see, it´s so different. With african men, I never had a problem like this, absolutly never. They were always extremely kind, supporting, protectiv, respectful and mostly I am travelling alone.. This rude and reckless behaviour (you need not even have a date with them) I know from albanese, libanese and egypt men
Damn. Never planned on going there, but this seals it. Fuck that man. That many people doing that shit?
There are so many SA's here - mostly Afrikaaners. They're all moving from SA to Aus. My previous two managers were both from SA and I am still close with one. They are all sick of the bullsh*t that goes on there. One of my boss'...his best friend's mother was murdered because they broke into her house during the day and she didn't know where the key to the gun safe was. So, they just shot her. I found him crying at his desk. He moved so "he didn't have to worry about coming home and finding his wife and/or daughter raped/murdered/missing". There is no country in the world that I won't visit, and I look forward to getting to SA one day....but, I will be watching my back, for sure!!! It's not so easy to prosecute people when they're basically faceless. And, let's not forget SA has something aroung 60% unemployment, if I remember correctly.
I've heard it's pretty bad in South Africa. It's such a beautiful place from what I've seen. It's a shame that it's going downhill
It is a shame. In my province we have a tonne of doctors who've left SA to come to Canada - too violent, dangerous and just not worth staying.
There are a lot of them here too, mostly those of Portuguese descent. Let's be honest...a lot of the violence that is forcing them out is black on white. Payback for years of apartheid? That might have something to do with it, but if the govt doesn't gain control SA could go the way of Zimbabwe, and that would be a disaster for all.
I think it's probably more poor on rich. And, let's face it, the VAST majority of the rich are white. There probably is a lot of resent there also. SA is going down fast. I doubt it will reach Zim standards, but it's going backwards. At least - that's what I've been told by my SA friends.... But, we have SA members here - perhaps they should speak up? Or Swazi? I'm only passing on 2nd hand knowledge and some research...
What Im about to say is controversial, but remember: I lived on/off in SA for approx seven years, so please, relax First of all, one of the problems is that there were no "reparations" in SA or a mean to allow blacks to CATCH up to white. In other words, whilst racism was completely abolished in the early 90's, blacks were still WAY behind whites in everything righteous in SA. That along with the fact that education ( Pre-school, Primary school, Secondary Schools) is extremely costly, and blacks simply cannot afford it, as opposed to white, who are atleast 95% likely to obtain a good life long education (compared to about 40% for blacks). With that being said....obviously i do believe that the causes of racial tension in SA is mainly due to academic intellectual differences between blacks and whites. From observations, academic aptitude is usually emphasized at most PRIMARY schools, and students are placed into "classes" based on "IQ" from the very first day they enroll into a certain primary school program. Of course at such a young age, these students don't understand (or realize) the racial differences, or that they are being segregated into classes that classify them based on intelligent (testing). Children simply go with the flow and some (ie. black girls)try to go from one class (a lower class) to another (a higher class). While other kids, more specifically black boys ,are mainly "obsessed" not only with their "boys" from the lower class, but also with the life style, so they make no attempts at improving thier grades, and thus remain in the lower class for the rest of the school year And usually for the rest of their lives..... In South African villages, yes ive been there, and no its not as nice as it sounds. What peasants should try doing is smarten up. Not get more intelligence but just wise up a bit. From NOT Having babies they cannot afford ,to getting an education, even if public education in SA is............useless........Take my girl Mogadi Mamabulo, for example, shes 29, shes been living in this village for as long as she can remember, and nothing has ever changed (at least for the better), She has walked the same dirty streets, drank the same dirty water, and socialized with the same ahem dirty friends she's had since forever. She dropped out of a local public school, that is in my opinion so basic ,i often wonder the purpose of it, but its better than nothing right??..And on top of that shes a young mother (with an absent father), about 5 kids and living in a shack. Now you tell me,,what are the chances of her children having a chance at life?..........they will in turn do exactly what their mother did.....and after a few generations ,what do you think will happen??.... Now take a good look at my boy Thabo Mabatho 24, the man has the brain of a rocket scientist, and has already made his own motor remote-controlled car, with barb wires. He has an innate ability to reason with his eyes, and has a mechanically inclined mind. But the kid never went to a regular school, and never had the chance to make use of his gifts. Right now he fixes broken down cars for a livin in his broken down village. He has no children of his own because hes too smart to have children he cant afford. needless to say, he's good genetics are going down the drain. Its sad state of affairs, but thats just the way it is, and until blacks in SA get given some type of reparations so they can catch up to whites, there is no way in fucking hell that SA will ever change. I know this might sound saddening, but its the truth. (my definition of reparation: Free solid education from pre-school to high school, Affirmative action, better housing, better way of living, birth control,,,lol..ok,,not birth control, but i do believe that with SOLID education ,the sense of not having babies you cant afford will be inevitable, therefore a free education for the masses will serve as a catalyst of what will be a domino effect on all matters racially factored in SA. However i wonder if blacks would actually take this offer??..i mean, FREE education and a better neighborhood is good, but it also comes with a price tag attached as well. Meaning, you still have to work hard at school, and sustaining a good neighborhood is also a factor of hard work,,,,,so,,,,,i wonder ey??..)
