Human sciences are a direct reflection of ourselves. In order for computers to evolve, the inventors of computers must evolve too. This evolution won't appear on a physical level, but in the manner of how people think and how they perceive the world.

interesting article/experiment. i must say though, not seeing the beauty may not be a full way to see this. comparing his concert, which we might assume was attended by people who were familiar with him and his work, is much different than a complete stranger playing on the street. sometimes people support things because of social trends. not everyone who attends a classical concert is actually into classical music. just saying...

also, when people pay money for a concert they are paying for an experience. most of us in the DC area who are using the train system and pass by music playing are not actively pursuing a musical experience, so the common thought isn't to pay for it. "it's on the street, it's free..." that's the common perception. there are bands that play on stages in parks but it doesn't always mean they are getting paid. people stand and watch, sometimes dance... but i don't see anyone throwing money on the stage. does that mean the "beauty" wasn't appreciated?

also, why is giving money the explanation on whether or not people felt his playing? obviously the person who stopped and leaned against the wall for a moment, was diggin the skills. just because they didn't throw some coins in a container doesn't mean they didn't appreciate the sonics.

i think it's kind of a skewed message but i support it because it creates a good dialogue. indeed, something to think about. nice post!
