Have anyone notice that alot of these commercials that features biracial kids always have black parents instead of interracial parents? I seen this a few times already. They are going ridiculously far with the limits they will go to not feature an interracial couple(more so bm,ww.) in these commercials.
I have noticed it also. I would guess these companies are afraid of getting backlash from people who are totally against seeing and hearing about interracial couples. There is a growing acceptance of interracial relationships, but there will always be resistance. I do see IRs appearing in ads much sooner than later when there is growing awareness and education regarding this.
You hit the nail head It makes the BM look like a cuckholded fool Remember the Cosby show? 2 of the kids were played by OBVIUOSLY biracial actresses..that made Mr Huxtable look like a clown
I never thought about that when I watched Cosby as a kid. Not knowing any different at that age, I just thought black skin color varied like caucasian hair color does. Looking back now, it stands out like a sore thumb. If they cast white actors as parents and a biracial child actor, no one would expect an audience to believe it. By the look on his face below, it looks like Mr. Huxtable is just figuring this out himself too! http://tv.gonna.co.uk/bigpics/cosbyshow1.jpg
I haven't noticed it in commersial, but they're not sending the same ones here as in the states. However I too have noticed it in sitcoms and movies. I even had a brief converstation with a friend about this last week, when we watched some old movie (I don't remember the title), where both parents where black, and their daughter somehow ended up being biracial...
I felt that way too watching that show and others like it as a kid. Although it helped that race was not discussed in a negative stereotypical manner if not at all in my house at the time. But it's funny. I was watching a VH1 special I believe and it was on the behind the scenes of "The Cosby Show." Apparently, during the casting, both parents weren't supposed to be professionals (doctor and lawyer) like they were. But for the audience to buy the fact that they lived in such a nice place (was it a brownstone or something), their careers had to be adjusted. As for the skin color part, I'm presuming those producers at the time used the mentality that since Hollywood had already labeled Lisa Bonet and Sabrina Le beauf as mixed/lightskinned, they would automatically be black in white america's view.
