Just out of curiosity: Does any of you like soccer? Playing or watching on TV?
And to those who follow the Soccer Eurocup:Which is your favorite team and which do you think has the highest chance to win the Eurocup?

I used to play a bit of midfield..

wasn't that good, but I had speed, which was useful for running down guys with the ball, especially during one on one breakaways.

I like to play Euro 2008 on my pc as well..

I tried on multiple occasions to take England into the finals, but I keep getting smoked..

Maybe i'll try my luck with Germany.

    :p

Hehe yea maybe we ll make it. I think Germany is playing today. Not sure though. I am not a big fan of soccer myself.Lol
I remember when Germany played against Argentina in 2006(worldcup) I was in London and everyone in this big mall was cussing when Germany scored a goal. One man asked me why I wasnt sad and I was like"Because I'm German". Lol.

I will be watching the Euro championships...Pity England didnt qualify. I think it starts next saturday..and Italy will probably win it...The German team isnt too great at the moment..haha..

Petty, I use to play midfield aswell; its one hard position, way too much running.Had to stop playing cos I hurt my knee.

If you like playing football games on your PC, you should try pro -evolution soccer.

Oh yeah baby, i'm a big, big, big soccer fan. I'm Nigerian and soccer runs in our blood throughout West Africa.

Arsenal FC are my team. I felt bad when England didn't make the Euro championships but honestly, they didn't deserve to be there. They played poorly in the runoff to the championships and they'd have been bounced the fuck out.

So, i'd be rooting for my second favorite European team, France.

    Viva la France !!!!

So many arsenal fans...Im a gunner as well :) . Thought this place would be flooded with Man U fans...what do you guys think our Premiership title chances are next year? Think its gonna be really hard..get a decent centre back and we might have a chance!

Yeah, you right about England not deserving to go the the Euro champs. They just didnt perform in the crucial games. If you break the england team down though, man-for-man they probably have one of the best squads in the world. So I think a large portion of the blame definately needs to be layed on the manager...he just wasnt good enough. Think, they have the right manager now though...

you guys are making me want to play soccer again..

i threw away my cleats (size 14 US, shoulda kept them, since I had to order them online), shinguards, and my long navy blue knee highs....

I know they have some leagues around here...

maybe i'll pony up some money and join one..

much safer than playing american football..

although i recall almost kicking a guy in the head, trying to intercept a high ball with my foot

some things, you can just play for fun..

    for love of the game

If we can keep Adebayor from getting so many red cards and just focus on scoring he could supplant Ronaldo as goal leader!

Reports here are claiming ronalda wants to go to spain(play for real madrid)...for a world record fee of £72 million.Got this of one of the tabloids; dont know how reliable it is. If he goes we might just win the priemership!

Arsenal can win the Premiership - and the Champions League at that - if they do the following things:

    - Take a command of the league from the very beginning. There is nothing that sets the pace for a good season like winning your first five or six games. In the recent seasons that Arsenal have won the league, they were at the top of the league as early as September. In 2004 when they went undefeated throughout the campaign, they were on top of the league by mid September when they faced arch-rivals Manchester United. They started off the season winning 2-1 at home to Everton, thrashing Middlesbrough 4-0 at the Riverside, 2-0 against Aston Villa at Highbury and then ended the month in style by beating Manchester City 2-1. They were consistent for the rest of the season, beating Chelsea twice and Liverpool on Good Friday to round off a fairytale season. Last seasoon (the 2007-2008 season), they did just that, despite all the pundits writing them off as early as July. They were the league leaders for more than half of the season, but largely due to inexperience, a dearth of talented backup players, injuries and pressure, they came back crashing to earth by March, losing crucial games to Chelsea and Manchester United. Eventually, they finished third in a season in which they could have - and should have - been champions.

Honestly, starting off with a good record is increasingly important these days given the sheer talent of the remaining of the "Top Four" especially Chelsea and Man U. It gives you a psychological edge and most times, teams do not succumb to either over-confidence and/or pressure to blow a lead.

More importantly, Arsene Wenger has got to do the uncharacteristic act of committing himself to a spending spree. On their best day, Arsenal play the most attractive, attacking and mind-blowing style of football, barring none. Their passing game takes a back seat to none and when they're firing on all cylinders, they can be the best team in the world. But with all that comes a price. You can play as fancy a game as you want but it is meaningless without any trophies to show for it. Arsenal haven't won a major trophy since May 2005 when they beat Manchester United on penalties in the FA Cup Final and it is no coincidence. Much of the current squad is talented but young, inexperienced, naive and simply not as talented as Chelsea and Manchester United. Now it might be unfair to ask for a deep squad given that Arsenal do not have the kitty of a Roman Abramovich or Malcolm Glazer but we have won trophies without the most expensive squad. And as we saw from Chelsea last season, money alone cannot win you things.

Arsenal, if they are going to win things, must bolster their squad, especially in defense and attack. They have talented players but when injuries come knocking - and they do-, keeping up the pace with the rest of the top four becomes even more difficult. It then happens that they drop games that they easily could win. Last year, could you believe that Arsenal, at one point, were on a seven game winless streak. And guess who some of their opponents were?United, Liverpool or Newcastle. They were the now relegated Birmingham, Aston Villa, Wigan and Middlesbrough. Quite frankly, they drew all those games because of fatigue and/or injuries to key players and inexperience.

All of that must change if Arsenal want to pip Manchester United to a second three peat.
