Sounds like you have a thing against black people who know how to speak good English and how to act in public, your musical choices and Sherri Shepherd aside.

A guy like Corey Booker could be doing anything with his relative youth and charm other than hanging around a dump like Newark. Don't be surprised when he finally says fuck it and moves to DC or New York. Motherfuckers like you aren't satisfied until you get a "real nigga" like Detroit's Kwame Kilpatrick the "hip-hop mayor," LOL. Who's in prison now by the way where most "real niggas" end up.

i'm not saying they are evil incarnate, but many of their actions are in the service of rich whites.....corey booker is a phoney doing his best obama(a few years in the black community to get his black card) before he reaches for his white power position.http://www.theroot.com/views/adrian-m-fenty-cory-booker?page=0,2&auto=true
oprah started a school in africa to continue the 21st century version of the white man's burden, she's been in chicago for over 20 yers, but hasn't done anything for them.

marcus garvey and malcolm x actually empowered the ppl they talked too with black unity and pride as opposed to these phonies whose existence is based on white elites' pocketbooks.

your argument lacks logic, you act like the only two options are uncle toms and crooks.....here's an idea why don't we have another david dinkins, he did a great job......funny you call it a dump, it's obvious you have a narrow perspective.......maybe booker should leave and take obama with him.....btw i wasn't attacking his diction, i was speaking on his actions and policies.

i didn't say that.....but that doesn't change the the fact that they are tools of powerful whites...that's why they are in there positions.

No, it wasn't. There are several quotes of Marcus stating controversial views.

    such as
"The Ku Klux Klan is going to make this a white man's country. They are perfectly frank and honest about it. Fighting them is not going to get you anywhere."

This is not an ends to a means. It is exactly dancing for the kkk. That quote speaks volumes to him not wanting to have to deal with the kkk like many other civil rights leaders had to(non-violently that is).

The people you hold so dear are folks that have stated far worse than corey, oprah and obama. Yes, they may have changed some where down the road but a wrong still is a wrong.

In what context did he say this? is he saying let's get a separate state or country? or is he sayin' not worth fighting with them at all & let's lie down and take it?

I think he said it in the first case but I have a hard time seeing the difference between both. If I own land and follow either case, I lose land. How long before the people who pushed me off of my land come to the next land I buy and take it? These are the markings of how countries come to be. By taking a stand and not running. It is easy to walk away and a lot harder to fight for what's yours.

The quote and link to it:

During the summer of 1922 Marcus Garvey had a secret meeting with Edward Y. Clarke, Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. The New York Times reported Garvey's comments about meeting on 10th July, 1922)

The Ku Klux Klan is going to make this a white man's country. They are perfectly frank and honest about it. Fighting them is not going to get you anywhere.

just use ctrl f and look for marcus.

you have to put things into context: marcus garvey and malcolm both grew up in a time when black ppl were being lynched day in day out through out the country, the ny times was openly using the word nigger, the woodrow wilsons of the world were showing kkk films in the white house,
the kkk were terrorizing ppl unrepently, so for him to say was commonsense at the time. that's why he and malcolm supported autonomy as opposed to mlk, oprahs, obamas and bookers of the world. basically it's the age old hose negro vs field negro issue.

what a well-written statement!:smt015 how could i possibly retort that....simple look at their actions and political philosophies:
dinkins-socialist, fighter for working class ppl
booker/obama- using their race to stand out as black neoliberals, but still fighting for wallstreet/american empire/corporations.

again field negro vs house negro.

btw, the hood is only the way it is because so many uppity blacks think they are too good for their community and use every chance they get to sell it out......you only see it with black americans....jews,indians,asians, etc don't do that....

Malcolm X never made that comment and he was the only one that grew up in the usa out of the two. Marcus did not grow up in the usa. How is it that Malcolm X never made such comments and lived through everything you just said and Marcus made those comments having lived in a black country. There is a reason why so many people had issues with Marcus.

I have found it quite ironic to see the "age old" European division tactic used by black people on black people.

he lived in ny and london, not to mention the st. louis riots happened around that time so he was keenly aware(he got shot for it) of the racism in america. a man who believed in and actually did with action, his philosophy of black independence and self-suffiecency, it makes sense that he would work with like minded ppl........i'll play a game with you: let's compare marcus garvey's accomplishments with booker, obama, oprah, fenty, bdr, colin powell and all these other coons and let's see who had a greater impact on black ppl.
on your point, i'm not causing more division by admitting the gulf between white elites in blackface teaching self-hate and white supremacy as opposed to lack ppl who teach unity, economic and political enpowerment..... here's another one for you: let's compare what garvey did on his own and what these ppl did with the help of elite whites.

It is a different matter to be raised in the usa than to live here for such a short period of time. Evidence of this is the fact that Malcolm, MLK jr and many other black leaders would never dare say such a thing. They realized that this was indeed their home. They purchased land here. They were raised here. They would not and will not run from the kkk and give an inch to them. That's something that Marcus's comments show that he does not understand. He angered black people in america so much about his comments that they wanted him out.

I find it ironic to see black people using "old aged" European racial division tactics to divide black people.
