Rosario Dawson has been cast as the 'love interest' in Will's next flick, Seven Pounds.

I wonder if Will is more at ease with Latina than with WW? He had flirted with his last Latina co star some years back during a news conference in Germany.

If I was livin large I would see it more soon than the Summer of 08. I doubt there would be intimacy knowing Smith.

 

Dawson is of partially African/black descent too so its not truly interracial anyhow.

And it doesn't matter if Smith is more at ease with being paired with a Latina. What's important is that society is more at ease with that rather than him hooking up with some white chick on screen. But that's old news.

 

Will Smith said he feels his career is just beginning, maybe he would be headed.....awe forget it. H eis not the one to break those walls down in mainstream hollywood, that brotha won't probably make it to mainstream hollywood.

 

Rosario Dawson is nothing new.

 

I suspect it's studio executives that are more at ease with a Latina love interest for Will for reasons we can all guess.

 

Amen. Couldn't have said it better. Let's all face it, Hollywood is YEARS away, if at all, from doing bm/ww couples on the big screen. Oh sure, they'll do a select few for "select" cities (NY, L.A.), but don't expect the major movies each season to make any real progress.

Jamal speaks the gospel. This is about middle America's uneasiness with IR dating/race mixing and it's overt impact on society. We all know it's happening in society and it must turn those people's stomachs. So Hollywood is simply playing to that prejudice by prolonging their own IR agenda, which has been put on the back burner for far to long in my opinion. It's simply easier to put a brotha with a latina (Dawson, Alba [half latina], Mendez) or even an asian (Lucy Lui, Ming Na) rather than, well ANY white broad at this point.

So don't be surprised by this development. But don't hold ya'll breath on the other IR we all want to see either.

 

Exactly, I don't consider Will and Rosario an interracial couple. Rosario is basically a black latina like Christina Milian or Zoe Saladona.

I thought Charlize was playing his love interest in one of his upcoming films. Another thing, how do we know that Will actually wants to be onscreen opposite white women? I think he has a thing for latinas personally, he puts latinas/mixed chicks in his movies more than black women. In I am Legend, he chose a mixedraced woman (Sallly Richardson) to play his love interest.

 

That is until we get an fearless black actor in this business or don't even have to an actor just a brotha who has reached a high level of fame, to point out whats going on in mainstream hollywood, but it is looking like we shouldn't hold our breaths on that neither.
