That's what I pointed out earlier, but some apologists didn't want to hear it. She turned down the female lead in "Hitch," which was a HUGE movie at a time when she was one of the top box office attractions in Hollywood. Some dude was in here claiming that it was because of scheduling, but I can't find any verification of that. All the stories that I've seen just said that she didn't want the part.

This is why I don't like this broad. It's clear that she made a conscious effort to distance herself from all BM (not just Puffy/Diddy) after her career blew up when she had been a poster girl for many black men during the 90s. And dumb ass nuckas were (and are) still giving her props. Now, that her career is on the slide and she's had some non-BM's kids, she's running back to this clown for the headlines. Like I said before, I don't know why anybody here is excited about this story. Brothers need to stop being so eager to feast on everyone else's scraps, especially the ones who diss us in their primes.

And to top it off, this broad ain't even white.

I was one of those defending her but my opinion has changed.Even if the story with Diddy was true I bet she calls it off as her career has gotten a boost with AI

The same thing can be said about virtually every black actress who rises to a certain level of stardom too. Your point?

The truth is that Hollywood doesn't prefer to have any legit female star with a black male onscreen love interest. Or do some of you still not pick up on that? Selma Hayek is another "Latina" who falls in that category as well. Starts off being a potential love interest of Sinbad on his '90s sitcom and was the love interest of L. Fishburne in some silly action flick. What has happened since? Jessica Alba is the same thing and if she had continued to rise up the ranks there was no chance she would be doing a film with a black male as her lover (even though her damn husband is of black heritage). Eva Mendes during her first few years in movies had about five films in which she was the girlfriend/lover/love interest of some black guy. The last five years? Nothing. Of course it may not stay that way because she never became an "It" girl in Hollywood but my point remains. Unless the guy is Will or Denzel Hollywood doesn't typically consider putting their best starlets or seasoned actresses with black men on screen.

So to go around suggesting J Lo has shown her true colors because she is not teamed up with black male love interests in her movies is absurd. You may be right about her intentions but you can't prove anything. Instead we can look at the body of evidence regarding Hollywood's history and give Lopez a pass.

I’m that dude, sir. And I stand by my point. You see your problem is you have zero evidence that she turned down the role because of anything that has to do with race. All you have are urban rumors and your own paranoia. You can go to some spots online (like IMDB) and read stuff that Lopez turned down Hitch but this info is typically provided by amateurs (like us) who go by gossip we come across. There are no quotes from Will, J Lo or any of their reps that Lopez turned down Hitch. So we don’t know. If she did turn down the role we don’t know what the reason was. It could have been scheduling conflicts or disapproval of script or anything else.

I’m no J Lo apologist. I’m no J Lo fan. But I have enough courtesy to give her the benefit of the doubt rather than rush to some racial excuse.

I did my own bit of research a few minutes ago and I came across some old statements (some being actual quotes) about the whole thing. They paint the story I was championing a week or so ago.

In March of 2002, the New York Daily News reported that after years of wanting to work together, Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith were set to star in "Last First Kiss". In May, Variety reported that Jennifer was being pursued to play the female lead. In June 2002, Will Smith said he and Jennifer Lopez may join forces not only on a new romantic comedy for Columbia Pictures, but a soundtrack in support of it as well. "We're talking about doing a whole album together to support the film," Smith told The Post's Megan Turner. "It's still a little premature, but that's the idea."

In July 2003, USA Today interviewed Will Smith while he was promoting Bad Boys II. Smith said, dismissed published reports that Jennifer Lopez was signed for the film. Instead, he said, he and Lopez were considering several other projects, including a remake of A Star Is Born.

So we see that Smith was planning things for Hitch three years before the movie made it to the theaters. A lot can happen during that time. You couldn’t count the number of times actors/actresses that were first mentioned to be involved with a movie never end up being in that actual film. It happens all the time and rarely does it occur because of the involvement of a black male love interest. Actors and actresses drop out of projects because of scheduling conflicts, family responsibilities, contract disputes, unavailability, dissatisfaction with a script, frustration that the project takes too long to get off the ground, new and better offers in other movies and of course the lost of luster of their careers which causes studios to look for other people to fill the slot. Ex: Julia Roberts dropped out of Godfather III (or the discussions never got too serious). I guess she didn't want to be paired up with a black man either. Oh, wait....

Lopez may have not been in “Hitch” for any of those reasons. I can’t say for sure. But at least I’m not far reaching by suggesting she refused to take part because Will Smith is a negro. You know I can assume a person is racist because that person comes from, say, Mississippi and like “Gone With the Wind, but that does not mean I’m correct about that. So I try to be careful regarding claims that I make. But you, without any evidence that would hold up even in the court of public opinion, go out on some ledge and basically called J Lo the mainstream film industry equivalent of a IR porn dodger. WTF? Get a grip. You don’t know. You can only sink to the bottom of your paranoid delusional state and make a guess. Stop trying to correct me as if you had facts at your disposal because you don’t have shit.

Based upon the excerpts I gathered Will and Jennifer were thinking about collaborating on a few things (something else I pointed out last time). Maybe it was all some ploy on J Lo’s part, but as it stands, based upon those comments from Will at least, she wasn’t exactly shying away from the idea of being paired with a black man on screen.

Well if we are to play a game of psychoanalysis, doctor, I suppose it is only fair to mention your rampant case of SPC on these boards over the years. What else would explain your compulsion to stop by and "contribute" to this site only by tossing out half-witted, hit and run insults to folks who by and large ignore you completely? If you still are that hard up for attention by all means give your mom a call because at least she would care. Or get a dog.

I disagree with brother Jamal on this topic, but I agree with him on the subject of this motherfucker Satyr/Satiricon. This clown is another example of the hypocrisy and double standards on the part of the broads on this forum. When a brother like Freddy speaks his mind, he gets attacked. But this Saticlown goes around insulting every single brother here at random and none of the females say a peep about it because he kisses their asses. He's announced that he's was going to leave the forum 15 fucking times, but he always seems to make it back to take a pot shot at some of the men here when he's bored.

    Pathetic.

Small Penis Complex. He fits all the traits.

Either that or he feels he was born from the Virgin Mary herself.

Most of us tend to ignore his barbs, but I failed at that the last time I was on these boards. My bad.
