We had a Temple coach John Chaney who years ago got mad at some illegal screens not being called, so he sic'd his "goon" player to rough up St Joe's players. It was very testosterone-ish of him, lol...but anyway he suspended himself for it when the shit hit the fan.

And I have no problem with the punishment they received. There were signs in every locker room saying not to do this sort of thing and they did it anyway. There is a little difference between Spygate and Bountygate as it is being called. This is a case of the cover up worsening the crime. The Saints got hammered a lot harder for 2 reasons.

1. They lied to the NFL repeatedly about this, they got caught they told them to stop, they said that they did, but in reality continued to place the bounties.

2. The NFL is facing multiple lawsuits from former players centered around the NFL creating an unsafe working enviroment. If they went soft on this and seemingly condoned this then the former players could turn around and say that by being soft on this they are encouraging this kind of thing.

By the way the patriots were not only fined they also lost a first round pick.

Also if your curious about RG3 he had his proday at Baylor today and all reports are that he was impressive, and if there is any doubt that he will be the redskins pick, well Tuesday night he had dinner with not only Coach Shanahan but with Daniel Snyder so unless the Colts pull the shocker of all shockers RG3 will be wearing a skins jersey when the season starts.

much like the military, mental and physical toughness is a valued commodity in football and just about any other hard sport. On one hand, you need hard bastards to play just about every down and give it their all. That's why you have basic training or football tryouts, so you can weed out the wimps. On the other hand, if something is really wrong with them, they may not feel safe coming to you about it for fear of retaliation. It's very catch-22. I remember jamming a finger after a catch during practice, and having the head coach look at me like 'get over it'

regardless of whether or not a coach puts a 'bounty' on players, you're still trained to hit as hard as you can. Look at the size and freakish athleticism on those guys. If you're not bringing serious lumber, they're going to embarrass you all day. When you hit a guy, you go in like your trying to take him off his feet or cause a fumble. Anything else and you seriously shouldn't be playing defense.
