He fought his cancer hard, but he has now died. He was married to his wonderful wife who stuck by him. R.I.P Mr. Movie man. http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/04/showbiz/roger-ebert-obituary/index.html
All I know is if he said a movie was good you knew he was telling the truth. R.I.P. Mr.Ebert. He'll def be missed.
He would be sorely missed. I watched his last show on PBS and before that when he teamed with Gene Siskel. He was one of a kind.
Here is the story from his paper: http://www.suntimes.com/17320958-761/roger-ebert-dies-at-70-after-a-long-battle-with-cancer.html
Back in the day, my family didn't go see a movie until we saw a Siskel & Ebert review of it first. R.I.P.
brings back those childhook memories when before we had the internet, we had to read the newspaper or watch Siskel and Ebert on TV right before heading off to the movie theater :smt088 plus he was down with the swirl so he gets another 'thumbs up'
just seen this post after i scrolled down my family did the same exact thing lol these guys were icons
i also remember watching them even if i wasnt going to the movies, as that was really the only way to see a ton of movie previews
Roger Ebert and Gene Siskell taught me how to watch a movie. I often watched Sneak Previews and At The Movies on PBS. I liked Roger's intelligence, wit and open-mindedness to film. There are a lot of critics out there like Lyons, Roeper and Medved. But, there can only be one Roger Ebert. This man had been referenced in films like Hollywood Shuffle and Godzilla(1998). I give him two thumbs up on an amazing life and career. Thank you. RIP.
The first person I can recall ever saying more about a movie than "I liked it." or "I didn't like it." He shaped how most people of my generation thought about movies. R.I.P.
'So on this day of reflection I say..thank you for going on this journey with me' In his final blog on Tuesday, he knew his time had come. At the end of his farewell to his followers, he signed off simply.."I'll see you at the movies".
