http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...igate-shooting-home_n_1471640.html?ref=sports The fact that he shot himself in the chest is telling. He played a very violent position and it makes you wonder if he wanted his brain examined.
I heard about this at work. So sad. Wonder if it had anything to do with concussions. Which can lead to depression. Our former Eagle DB Andre Waters did the same thing. Such a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Wow Max. What an interesting premise. If it were so, that would be incredible foresight on his part in the midst of his personal pain. Wonder if he left a suicide note with those wishes.
Hall of Famer Dave Duerson did this last year when he killed himself. He actually left a note for his brain to be donated for the brain bank... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...rs-star-duerson-shot-self-wanted-brain-probed
TMZ article pondered the same. Quote from TMZ: The fact Seau chose to shoot himself in the chest seems like a premeditated decision -- considering several NFL players have recently killed themselves in a similar fashion in order to preserve their brains for research purposes ... in the wake of new studies which appear to connect football-related concussions to suicidal behavior.
There was also the cliff incident, which preceded this. The man was troubled; I wish he would've sought out help.
Law and Order and an episode with an X football player that suffered football related dementia - he shot himself in the chest too. Apparently, the only way to diagnose it is during an autopsy so hence the shot to the chest instead.
It is very sad that some famous football players had to end their lives to find a cure for their brain injuries.
As someone who has worked with numerous athletes over the years, I can say that the fame and the $ of playing pro sports is very OFTEN not worth the physical and psychological damage these guys inflict upon themselves, the cost of those years comes due when they retire.
I was just reading the NYT's story on it -- shockingly the most recent player who did the same thing did so just two weeks ago... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/03/s...inebacker-dies-at-43-in-apparent-suicide.html
Junior, Junior, All Pro Junior......there is nothing in the rigors of this life worth ending your own precious life....No Heart ache, No body ache, No mental ache.......Suicide is an unforgivable sin my brother .....Rest in peace Mr. Seau......
There is talk that he may have had a brain disorder associated with too many concussions. I am sure God will forgive him for being sick and not in his right mind. He is after all a forgiving god?
