I would like to give thanks to Congressman Lewis and that whole generation for the courage and sacrifice. Because of their efforts, I was able to achieve my goals and have the quality of life I have earned.
Agreed! They blazed important trails for us, and I'm forever grateful. That's one reason it really bothers me when people today take certain things for granted and/or won't vote.
Those who forget the past are bound to repeat it! You and I have it 10 times better than our grandparents who had to deal with legalized racism/apartheid/Jim Crow etc... Again, thank you Congressman John Lewis and others who sacrificed!
He and others opened the door to opportunities for the next generation. The next generation needs to do the same thing because full equality has not yet been achieved. I tell people to contribute to the UNCF and they look at me like I`m crazy and proceed to spend at least $100 on a pair of sneakers. Can you imagine the positive effect on HBCU if every black person contributed at least that amount annually
