I just saw TV One's Unsung Hollywood on Richard Roundtree. I did not know he was in IR before being a star. Also,he married WW twice and two girls from each of those relationships. No question had IR in between. I learn something every day.
He also played the Jack Johnson part in the Philadelphia production of The Great White Hope before getting the Shaft role.
They sort of implied it when she rebuffed white reservist Marjoe Gortner's advances. A scene would have been great, though.
When Richard Roundtree did the Shaft movies, he had two IR flings in two of the films. Shaft and Shaft In Africa. I was hoping he would have one with Victoria Principal in Earthquake, but it didn't happen.
I saw that for the first time in the mid 80's after renting a copy. The scene was not shown on TV and I first heard about this from a book about interracial couples. I missed that IR scene in Shaft In Africa,I may see it again. I remember back in the mid 70's reading a copy of Black Stars magazine and saw a photo of Roundtree and Cathy Lee Crosby.
I think that photo was also in Jet magazine. I have to see Shaft In Africa. The woman he sleeps with is still alive and looks great after all these years.
