LMAO I figured this could be an experiment of sorts conducted to test the impact receding rep points has on different members. Basically, had i been the webmaster, my plan would have been similar in order to aggrevate as many members as possible. After all, some people care so much about their so called rep power that theyve stopped expressing their true personalities or conflicting opinions due to the fear of losing some of their beloved rep points. Sooo, you made it so new members can move up faster and so old members can have a lesser affect on a new member's rep and each others?
The change will cause everyone to move up a bit slower from rep given by other members. There was a sort of rep inflation reflected in the stats. The bump in rep to new members is to prevent them from being restricted by one member with one click. This only affects the rep that's given by others. It does not impact reputation gained from posting or rep based on start date. So it's possible that a member could fall behind another if most of their rep was given by others. When the forum developers come out with a patch that allows members to rate each post (Thanks and Groans ... as Nico suggested) then there will be another adjustment made to reputation based on post quality-- not just the total number of posts.
The latest version of this software that came out last week does not have. Another forum software package does. I'll start another thread on it.
Another adjustment I am going to make is on start date. It's currently set to 1 level for every 365 days. Going to change that to 1 level for every 180 days (6 months).

Me too...and then I noticed that my post was removed that I got two reps for, so I thought that maybe I kept the comments but not the reps that I received. Ah well.
