Irene Cara caught some flack about her race and ethnicity. She stated that she was Puerto Rican and not black. I think she was Dominican When Jennifer was on the show The L Word, Pam Greer played her sister, who is also a lesbian. She and her white lesbian partner wanted to be parents through a sperm donation. They desired that the donor be a black man. Jennifer has a lot of flexibility and versatility in her acting range.
Irene Cara's half Puerto Rican, half Cuban and all black. I hadn't heard about her denying her ancestry, but I do know that some Latinos deny it and others think the term "black" means specifically African-American and you have to ask about African ancestry to get a clear answer. I've seen Jennifer Beals play black, white and race unimportant characters. She's never denied her ancestry to my knowledge and is an incredible actress. I hope she appears in something again soon.
I remember him. But Walter Mercado, Kenny Kingston and Miss Cleo ruled the psychic roost back in the days.
In the film Day Of Atonement, she played a Jewish woman. Like I had mentioned before, Jennifer was on The Grudge 2. She did okay in that film. She was in another with Jimmy Smits(I forgot the title).
Remember when Cadillac came out with the new Seville? That car looked better than any Cadillac they built after 1982. It looked like a Rolls Royce.
The first time I saw Lucinda Dickey was not in any of the Breakin' film's. But a n action film called Revenge Of The Ninja. She was possessed by the spirit of a Ninja killed by the LAPD and other sordid characters. She kills them only until Sho Kosugi arrives to face the dead ninjas in combat.
To this day, no one knows the true origin of Ninjutsu and the Ninjas. But instructors and students do maintain the training and traditions of this fighting and stealthy art. The mystery is what was most appealing about Ninjutsu. I think back to the NBC show The Master. Lee Van Cleef was well cast as the titular character. The show gave everyone who didn't have movie channels a chance to enjoy a show about Ninjas. Of course, singer/actor Rick Springfield had a short-lived show on CBS called Raven. Even the show CHiPs tried to launch a spin-off pilot called Force 7(I think that what it was called). Actor John Rhys-Davies played the villain out to destroy Los Angeles with a laser weapon. It didn't get picked up. Sho Kosugi at one time made an appearance on a series of martial arts film's. He came on before the movie and introduced himself and then the film. Actor John Saxon made an appearance on the USA Network's Martial Arts Theater along with Richie Barothy, Bill "Super Foot" Wallace and other martial artists to perform demonstrations before, during and after the film's. USA used to make weekends fun. An independent station also played the old chop Rockies on the weekends. Every fight scene, I wanted to play Bernie Hancock's Rock It because the fight scenes were like a dance. Those fighters were probably the best break dancers in Asia. Those were the days.
