Rate New Foods or Drinks

    There is always a plethora of new food items and/or drinks hitting the market, it's often hard to keep abreast.

    If you find a gem, or a dud, share if you like, with your opinion.

    Ok, here is mine.. ( of course l go into detail, but you don't have to)

    I love the taste of barbeque chips, but the 1000 ingredients is why l won't eat them.

    Today, l was so happy to find these...

    So the ingredients are simply potatoes, avocado oil, salt, sugar, tomato powder, onion powder, garlic powder, spices, natural extract of paprika, natural smoke flavor.

    It has ZERO sugars and 2 grams of protein and 125 milligrams of sodium per serving. 140 cals per 1oz serving.
    $2.49 for 5oz bag. Non gmo. They have plain and other flavors, too.

    My assessment:...
    They taste fantastic. Non greasy. Light barbecue flavor, don't create a thirst.
    No more Lays or Herrs for me.

    Ill have to try that....not the barbq though.

    I tried Wendy's sweet potatoes fries in sea-salt. They were ok. Not very crisp, though.

    Lays held a chip flavor competition (was going to enter it but never did, lol)..

    Anyhoo, here are the four finalists out of millions of submissions...

    Flavor No. 1: Lay’s Southern Biscuits and Gravy

She has a great appreciation for each locale’s ‘homemade style,’ because it reminds her of her own childhood, filled with memories of eating Southern food in her grandmother’s kitchen. Not surprisingly, this family-favorite also inspired her potentially million-dollar winning potato chip idea.”

    Flavor No. 2: Lay’s Kettle Cooked Greektown Gyro

    “James Wagner has been in the Air Force for more than 18 years, traveling the country and abroad, and discovering local tastes at each stop on his journey. While abroad, James discovered his fondness for Greek cuisine, so when he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, he immediately sought out the closest gyro specialty restaurant. As it turns out, there is one right outside the Air Force base gate. His flavor inspiration comes from his regular visits to that restaurant.”

    Flavor No. 3: Lay’s New York Reuben

    “Jeff Solensky helps manage a local restaurant in DuBois, Pa., where he pursues his true passion in life — food. Growing up in Long Island, N.Y., Jeff has fond memories of traveling into Manhattan to enjoy Broadway shows with his mother. A big part of that tradition was stopping by popular New York delis beforehand to enjoy signature, mouth-watering Reubens. Inspired by the delicious Reuben sandwiches of his childhood, Jeff came up with the idea to infuse those same flavors into a potato chip.”

    Flavor No. 4: Lay’s Wavy West Coast Truffle Fries

    “Angie Fu, a native Californian, has had a passion for food and discovering local flavors from an early age. She very nearly went into culinary school, but instead opted to keep her love of flavor a hobby. When Angie is home, she is constantly in her kitchen, trying her hand at new dishes and sauces. But when Angie goes out to eat, she can’t say no to truffle fries, even seeking out restaurants in the area that put their own local twist on her favorite side.”

    I'll be heading to the store within the next week to try out all these new flavors.

    Hopefully they have small sized bags at the local convenient store.

    They don't come in the 3.5 oz bag, nor the 12 ounce...these competition ones they appear to make them in 8oz bags only.

    I just bought last year's winner and they taste good, except the flavor isn't strong enough for my buds. (that or they played it safe) But def taste wasabi and ginger.
    I was hesitant thinking they might be real awful as a chip, but figured if they won the $1 million... and l wasn't disappointed.

    Seriously though, how hard was it to create that combo? If you find or create a meal that you think can translate well, you have a shot for easy money.
