There's nothing criminal the DOJ can charge Hillary with over her emails and there's no federal investigation about the Clinton foundation.

Don't bet on charges coming down over her email server.
Setting up a private email server was against State Department regulations, it wasn't a CRIMINAL act.

The problem with the Clinton Global Initiative is the glaring appearance of impropriety.

A person can follow the letter of the law on paper and still look like a crook.

It all depends if Trump's speech on Monday gains any traction since I assume he's going to blast her over allegations about the Clinton Foundation.

Question for all who tend to vote for dems.

Is the democrats position on guns worth losing the white house? To Trump at that?

There's actually more support for a ban on assault weapons now than there has been for a long time. The rash of mass shootings (with no end in sight) is causing a lot of people to reconsider their positions on it. Being for stricter gun control measures isn't as damaging as it used to be, especially outside of the southern states.

As for Clinton losing to Trump...depending on which polls you look at she's anywhere from 5 to 12 points ahead of him nationally. The general is still months away and it really is too early to know what's going to happen in November but at this point it would take a series of major miracles for Trump to beat Clinton. Combine that with 1) a united Democratic Party versus a Republican Party that's coming apart at the seams, and 2) the Dems' inherent Electoral College advantage and 2016 is starting to look like a nightmare for the GOP.

If the Sandy Hook shooting did not sway people, i'm a bit skeptical of the relevance of this poll. People were really broken hearted over that tragedy, even some of the people at the stores rushing to make purchases before the ban. Some stores even removed AR-15 ammo in anticipation of new regulation. Perhaps the timing of this poll increased the sampling error. It's hard to account for emotions that are ever changing, people become disgusted one day, the next day they........well who knows when it comes to emotion. With that said, the article was certainly worth the read, I'm just a bit skeptical of its applicability given the timing.

As we already know, values and conviction are more of a fixed attribute than emotion. People who support gun rights are usually dead set on it. I have yet to see one of them change their position. Not only that, its usually high up on the list of reasons why they vote. Soon as the phase "Assault weapons ban" comes up they are done listening. They already know that calling a semi automatic rifle an assault weapon is like calling an automatic Supra a race car. It could be but it isn't.

Personally I find it difficult to support such a ban when there are freshmen in college that know enough chemistry to do more harm than some due with an AR-15. What next? A ban on knowledge?

"A united democratic party"?? I dunno about that. It's human nature to over complicate and create unnecessary problems. With that said, I see potential for people to become short sighted.......still crying for Bernie as if he is not alive and active in Congress.

Not voting for Bernie is a missed opportunity, not voting for Hillary is....... well I'll let you tell me if she loses.

Based on the old assault weapons ban, the AR15 would not be legal for sale.

85-90% of Americans polled are in favor of background checks for all gun purchases.
When Congress votes NO on background checks, that's the NRA talking not the voters.

Our government is corrupt and getting worse everyday.
High powered corporate special interests literally own every Senator and congress person on Capitol Hill.

We rarely see national legislation passed that represents the will of the people and more often is some kind of protection or giveaway to the corporate elite.

True, there is a lot of potential legislation that the voters are ok with, but when you hold the position of banning the AR-15, you are going to get stiff resistance from them same voters. That's where the line is. It's very real.

Make all the gun legislation you want, as long as you are not restricting mag sizes or banning semi-autos, most voters don't really care.

You can talk about banning people on the watch list, making laws and structure to prevent the mentally ill from having them, background checks ect.

It's all good until you cross that line.

We don't even have open carry in the gunshine state.

Well, technically any semi automatic or fully automatic rifle that is designed for military use is an assault rifle. Regardless of how people want to change the term, that is the classic definition of an assault rifle.

Now, as to your question, I have no prob voting for the Democratic platform because I believe we need common sense gun safety legislation. I grew up with guns. Father had guns. Mom kept a sweet little .22. In her purse. I carried guns both legally and illegally (yes, stupid of me. but I was alone and often many miles from home) and I believe every black male should apply for carry permits as well as be trained in how to properly use and maintain their fire arms. The only reason I don't have a gun now is because my disability prevents me from safely using one.

With that said, there needs to be a limit on magazines. The time it takes to change magazines could be the difference between just a few dead and dozens being killed. And, purchasing a gun should be harder than buying a car. I believe in thoural background checks and mental evaluations. If you're on the Terrorist Watch List, you shouldn't be able to buy a gun. That's common sense. Oh, and if the Watchlist is flawed, then let's quit playing politics and fix it. More common sense that I'm not seeing on both sides really. But, particularly from the right.

Besides, if you need a large capacity magazine to defend yourself, you need to invest in some more time training with your weapon.

The military uses pump shotguns and 30-06 as well, so by your definition those are assault weapons.

My take from your post is that you aren't really for banning AR-15, even tho you could care less if they were banned, the long mags is what you really want to get rid of.

A 30 round mag is standard on that gun.

I'm all for common sense legislation on guns, first we start with the mentally ill. I used to work in support of the mentally ill, even though the position was a financial one, I was very much in the middle of the process, some of them became friends that I really cared about. Anyway it didn't take long for me to see that advocating for the mentally ill was a loooong uphill battle. With that said, people are too ignorant about mental illness to begin common sense gun legislation in this country.

Agreed, and this is something that's truly scary to me. Of course all mass shootings are horrible, but usually when there's children involved... Somehow, you can expect more of people. To have all of these elementary school children (and teachers) murdered, and the NRA and their followers (and paid-off pols) simply blow it off... You really have to wonder about their character.

Hillary is a 'stack of garbage' and a 'leprechaun': Clinton-hating Bernie supporters appear on The Daily Show to explain why they're voting for Trump (hilarious)

In other news...32 Protest Groups have requested and received permits for the DC in Philly. Can't wait.
