For some people putting time and energy into "debating" anonymous strangers on the internet equates to doing something to bring about change. It safety allows them to maintain whatever moral or intellectual ground they operate with regardless of the outcome. If they succeed in changing someone's opinion it's a "win" and if they don't it's still a "win" because they attempted to enlighten others to what they believe to be truth. Not their fault if others are not open minded enough to accept whatever so called "truth" they are advocating.

First... My feeling is based upon what Trump has shown himself to be, his statements and his actions thus far. You can think what you want. As I've said many times... I have little confidence that he'll do well for America as a whole (again, based upon his words, values, actions behavior). The fault I find in Trump cannot be denied, so your statement about me finding fault no matter what is simply speculation.

It's great that you can take this care-free attitude toward Trump and his presidency. It must be nice to have that luxury.

Never one to be quiet. I believe you were not active on the Forum when l created this very thread we speak in. l have always enjoyed healthy political debate/discourse, so not sure why you insist it's out of character. Naturally, everyone gets fired up during election season - look at everyone's posting during it.

However, the hysteria and violence eminating from the self-proclaimed tolerant all inclusive Left, is shocking.
I have always said here the far Left is no better than the far Right..thus why l find the Left so fraudulent. The parties are similar in so many ways but the Right don't hide it.

I know that sometimes we can appear larger in life online and have been told by those the have actual real-life interactions with me that lm very sweet, soothing, calm..lol, lm often told to speak up because I'm very soft-spoken.
Trust me K, l'm calm as a petal, but strong in thought.

I don't think it's surprising at all to see you chiming in about political topics or any newsworthy story, I think what is so surprising to many of us is your strong stance on Trump. You being outspoken... Not shocking lol ;) But you consistently coming to the defense of someone like Trump, knowing full well what he stands for (he certainly doesn't mince words or try at all to hide his inconsiderate side) and the kind of hateful individuals he's surrounding himself with, is kind of shocking. I think that's what K was referring to maybe.

It just happened. It's gut-wrenching. Huge freaking loss. I'm heart-broken and angry.
Tell me Beasty, is that a first? Civilians getting killed? Seals getting killed? You know the answer so skip the disengenous " not supposed to get shot at from all directions". Tell that to the 22 Seals of Team 6 that were shot down in their Chinook (and 16 civilians) after VP Biden revealed their identities.

    Did you say anything then?

It was actually worse than that..... damn. How was this a stealth mission?? Did they even get any intel from the raid? How does his boy scout training factor into this?

"A pair of Harrier jets and a pair of helicopter gunships arrived from the USS Makin Island and joined the battle. The jets bombed and strafed the al Qaeda encampment, and the choppers fired on the target with their cannons."

    WTF

I've said it before, l like the business man ~ I've read his books. I don't know him well enough as a President but so far lm happy with the extreme vetting, the barrier wall, the return of jobs, the maintaining of LGBT rights...have to think of others. So far there is nothing l don't approve of.
If there is for you, let me know so l can understand your factual reasons why his decisions are wrong?

Ps: l know you know l don't like some of the stuff he says, but it doesn't compel me to cut my nose off.

That wasn't because of a decision by the Commander and Chief. The mission got blown and they decided not to kill the people that eventually told the townsmen of their whereabouts. They died because they made a decision not to beak the law and kill the people who found out that they were there. It was a legal decision that was made due their cover being blown out in the field.

    Talk about Disingenuous.

I didn't read on any MSN sites that Trump threatened President Pena Nieto he was going to invade Mexico. I read the story as it was reported FROM THE WHITE HOUSE, that Trump said Mexico had some 'bad hombres' down there and he might have to send in U.S. troops if the Mexican military didn't take care of it.
BTW, you know what it's called when another nation sends in troops to deal with a problem without the host country's permission?? An invasion.

As for Donald getting all bent out of shape because a TIME reporter mistakenly tweeted the bust of MLK was removed from the Oval Office, this was never a reported story in any publication. It was just a tweet by TIME reporter Zeke Miller who noticed the bust of Winston Churchill had been returned to the Oval Office and he mistakenly believed the MLK bust had been removed. An hour later Miller tweeted a correction.
You should be more concerned how willing the Trump administration is to discredit the mainstream media over a nothing story,(now suddenly a couple of tweets by a TIME reporter means TIME magazine is fake news??) so there's less media accountability for the POTUS.

It's shameful that a site like Breitbart has been given media credentials to the WH and is now elevated to the level of the Washington Post, CNN and the NY Times.

You really should do more research about the people Trump is surrounding himself with in his administration to understand why the majority of AMericans who didn't vote for him fear Trump and are growing to hate him.

You don't drain the swamp in D.C., then hire the former CEO of Exxon to be the new Secretary of State. Nor do you select a former Goldman Sachs banker who during his Senate hearings 'forgot' he had $100 million in an undisclosed account to be the next Secretary of Treasury.

You don't replace a former nuclear physicist who was in charge of the Department of Energy with an incompetent like Rick Perry.

And you sure as heck don't pick a woman to run the Department of Education who doesn't believe in the importance and viability of the public school system.

When Trump supporters question why others think people like Steve Bannon are racist, anti-Semetic and White supremacists with undue influence over the Trump presidency, ask yourself why during the International Holocaust Remembrance, there was not ONE mention of JEWS in Trump's public statement???

And don't tell me to buy the BS from the WH they were trying to recognize all groups who died during the Holocaust. Jews are the ones responsible for International Holocaust Remembrance in the first place, so why not mention them?? Hitler's Final Solution was Nazi Germany's attempt to deal primarily with the Jewish problem in the Third Reich.

The Trump administration is going to fail 'bigly' because of the massive defects in his character, IMO the most important attribute of any leader, his arrogance, narcissism and his unspoken agenda to break the federal government.

It's not that any of us wants to believe the worst about Donald. We're simply shocked by what we're seeing.

Key words are "cover being blown." They are a stealth team. It's the presidents job to make a decision based on Intel mostly from CIA sources, so they can operate with an advantage based on calculated risk.

It's a difference between their cover been blown out on the field vs them actually walking into a shit storm like in Yemen. GTFO

I can't think of anything he's done thus far that I approve of. I disagree strongly with the wall, with his stance on refugees, with his Muslim ban, with his idea that Betsy Devos is in any way qualified to run our dept of education (seriously need the eyes-bugging-out emoji here) , with his selection of Rick Perry (insert same emoji lol), with his views on abortion...it really goes on and on. I don't think trump has the political knowledge, experience or basic maturity needed to make intelligent executive decisions concerning this country. He's more of a knee-jerk kind of guy and that's an incredibly risky attribute in someone with the power to adversely affect our safety. I see him alienating us both from within and internationally.

As liberal as I am, I've always gone into new presidencies (regardless of who was entering office) with the wait and see approach. It is impossible for me to do that this go round. We have a man in power who goes against everything I believe in and everything I raise my kids to be. He's surrounding himself with money and power (because that's his comfort zone), instead of surrounding himself with intelligence and experience (probably because it would hurt his ego).

I believe very strongly in treating everyone as equals and protecting their rights. All of Trump's actions thus far go against that very core belief.

Marine officers fly those jets. If they have to save Navy Seals then the mission was botched from the beginning. All the SEALS normally need is their extract team SWCC

Somebody don't know what they are talking about.

Stop being rational. You need to blindly wrap yourself in feelings of national pride and support your president in his efforts to make Amerikkka great again. That's the only way this nation will come together and heal.

Man Sets Off Explosive Device at Cheesecake Factory

    By DAVID CAPLAN
    ABC News
    Feb 3, 2017, 2:59 AM ET

Diners at a Cheesecake Factory restaurant in Southern California had their meals interrupted Thursday night when a man tossed a homemade explosive device into the restaurant, officials said.

"This evening an incendiary device exploded within our Pasadena restaurant," The Cheescake Factory said in a statement. "Thankfully, none of our guests or staff was injured. Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident and we hope to reopen in Pasadena on Friday, as usual."

"'People were jumping over one another, fighting to get over bar stools. People were tripping, falling...stuff going everywhere. It was very chaotic,' said one witness, Garrett Gunkle, who returned to the restaurant to collect his belongings.

Unfinished plates of food and personal belongings were abandoned mid-meal.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bomb squad arrived at the restaurant and found the 'pyrotechnic device' containing gunpowder.

The Pasadena Police Department said in a statement that its officers responded to a call of an explosion at the restaurant, located on West Colorado Boulevard in Old Town Pasadena.

"Officers immediately entered the restaurant and evacuated customers and employees and located a detonated homemade pyrotechnic device," according to the statement. "The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb squad responded to the scene and rendered the device safe. No customers or employees were injured during the incident at the restaurant."

According to KABC, the device gave off heavy smoke after it detonated.

Witnesses told KABC a man ran from the scene after throwing the device into the restaurant.

Citing witnesses, police described the suspect as a "male of Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, 6'0, thin build, with a heavy beard and wearing all black clothing and a black beanie."

For all of Trump's many, many faults as both a person and a candidate that's probably his worst one. A man who knows less than nothing about the job he's doing should at least pretend to think about what he says before he says it. He is so completely lacking in thoughtfulness and judgment that it's scary. The fact that he's nominating people to cabinet positions who know as little as he does (if not less) about the jobs that they'll be doing is even more alarming.

And as for Betsy DeVos...yikes. Her nomination is an insult.
