for some reason, latin was a language we were taught in high school along with french and indonesian. never understood why they taught latin though.

And latin is important. once you know latin and latin grammar you are able to understand latin languages very well, and german and russian too (last thing i've been told by some teachers).
In italy we have liceum wich is a type of high school and u learn ancient latin too. I attended liceum and I forgot most of the latin I studied but it helps consolidate grammar so it's very easy to learn other languages too

I want to learn arabic so much but I have no time

Athena-For me French and spanish are not quite the same and knowing French did not make it easier to speak spanish. But Knowing spanish made it easier for me to understand some of my Brazillian friends speaking Portuguese. I have stayed in Quebeque and France & can get by with french with out major difficulty but I loveeeeee Spanish. PPl say French is romantic but to me spanish spoken by spaniards (not by south Americans) is hella sexy than French.

One language I want to learn is German, it is not a romance language but to me it's a very interesting lang. Anyways, enough about me.

Agreed. Even though both are romance languages, Spanish and Italian are actually closer to each other than French is to either of them.

Hi, just quick word about languages, latin helps understand most European languages but not Russian, it has completely different roots... (I am, so you can believe me ) I was studying latin too, in the beginning in med. school, then just like hobby. I feel sorry that it's dead.

Celebs in general must not be selling as good as they use to in their respective fields or they must just be attention whores. Pics leak out every other day etc. I just saw a pic of Kesha getting her box ate out... Zooey Deschanel had pics leak weeks back(they were taken when she was in college) of her playing with herself... Im but damn this shits bananas.

 

I' ve been awaken form my deep sleep and sweet dreams by my aunt. She calls me to tell me that one of her friends told her that she saw her teenage daughter smoking pot,,, and my aunt is telling me not my daughter.
A lot of familes think their child is the best, so many mothers and fathers who are of the "not my daughter" belief. Yes your daughter. Yes your daughter cheats. Yes your daughter is a stripper. Yes your daughter walks all over and hurts nice guys. Yes your daughter is an alcoholic, a druggie, nympho, a bad single mother. Yes your daughter makes "video tapes." LoL, they will be like nah, not my daughter. LoL

 

Been thinking about what is it that makes a thing "brilliant" and am forced to reengage the question of whether values are grounded in universal principles that can be discerned or is it all relative?

I believe my standards to be better than most, but still feel that there is more to learn about the sublime in relation to artistic expression.

 

Parents don't like to think about the ineffective ways that they've raised their children. When it all doesn't lead to success, the last place they look is themselves.

 

I feel you on what you're saying, but I do feel like parents get judged on how they raise their kids in a fucked up way. A parent could teach their kid to do the right thing, but the kid could say fuck that and decide to do the wrong thing. The parent gets looked at as a bad parent even thought the parnet brought the kid up to do the right thing. At the same time a parent could of raised their kid to the bad thing or choose to not teach their kid anything about morals and character, but the kid decides to do good because they feel thats the right thing to do.

At the end of the day people have their own brain and can do their own thinking if they want to. If they choose to do bad (regardless of how the parent brought them up), it should all fall on the kid. We all make or own choices in life and we should all be held accountable of our actions. I feel like kids get to use the "my parent wasnt a good parent or my parnet wasnt around" scapegoat when they screwup and thats bs to me (for the most part).

Lol excuse the rant, what you brought up made me want to bring up behavior and parenting as a whole...

 

I have a whole ton of other people lined up to blame if things go wrong with mine, even down to "they bought the gear, rolled the joint, forced it into her mouth, lit it and then pinched her to make her inhale."

I remember something my Mum said when I my passed my theory test without getting one wrong "you get that from me, I was always good with tests"
Then when I was being arrogant, rude and ignorant and believe me I could be all those things at once.
She would always say "that's your Fathers side coming out in you, I lay no claim to that"

It's a built in mechanism, don't judge them too harshly.
