Yeah, I'd work out the perimeter by doing 11 + 11 + 14 + 14 = 50.

She has enough seed for 116 sq ft so I'd say she should make it 2.32 ft wide (116 / 50)... maybe I'm totally wrong. I sucked at math at school.

The area of the pond isn't really relevant because that's filled with water, it's round the pond you want to know about. I think. LOL.

 

If that can make u feel better, I would have done the same thing you did on the first and still don't understand why it's the other way. Usually my proportions never fail me!

Learning French, thinking it'll take at least a year before I'm relatively fluent. Spanish would be a far more practical choice, especially in the southwestern US, but I don't particularly care for the language. Besides the French own the Spanish in terms of artistic, philosophical, and political achievement; own the US in many respects as well.

I'm beginning to hate monolingualism and wish that this feeling had surfaced years ago. With the exception of Canada, most Anglophone countries seem to view multilingualism with disdain or indifference.

French is fairly easy to learn. At least I didn't have much problem with it.

Learning German is on my list of languages I'd like to learn fairly soon.

I think it's horrible that American schools don't require kids to learn another language in elementary school. I think we're missing out on an amazing opportunity by them not offering one.

 

I took French in grade school. They kind of did it as an extra curricular during school. You had to have really good grades and then you were allowed to take it. We did it just prior to recess several times per week and the teacher made it fun. Now with tight budgets you will never see it happen.

 

i'm surprised that not even spanish is on the list for american children in primary school. both harps & daisy are learning italian at school

Once you have French down, you'll find Spanish very similar. Having some French training and immersion, I am finding it reasonable to pick up select Spanish words. I would love to master both languages once I am finished the current task at hand.

I've already picked up more Greek and Latin than I know what to do with, lol. :smt081
