I just love it when brand new members post suggestive, naked, semi-nude pics of themselves right off the bat. Their motives for being here seem very pure with those actions.

I hear you Bookie. Like I said if you want to sell it, or give it away to complete strangers, go to the personals.

Yep, they're so original. I'm just waiting for Cheap1forU, or Free2GoodHome, or WillShag4Twinkies, or some other equally well thought out and inspired name to pop up.

And you're welcome. I made a "do not post in religious themed threads" exception. lol :) I'm just sick of the arguing, and that's just an area where no one ever wins.

Now ladies, about this skin peel with coffee, honey, and lemon juice...?

I feel kinda pathetic asking for math help on here, but I've been freaking out since yesterday about mainly 2 questions on my study guide. My cousin couldn't really help me that much and my math genius friend won't pick up his phone. Either I just don't understand it or my teacher made a fuck up on here.

"At the end of the day, a store keeper had 1050 in the cash register, counting both the sale of goods and the sales tax of 5%. Find the amount that is tax." I got $52.50, but the multiple choice answers are $45, $50, $55 and $40. I divided 1050 by 100 and then multiplied the answer by .05 to get 52.5. I thought it was right, but not according to the multiple choices. My cousin got the same answer and he's better than me at math.

Another question is "Doris has a rectangular fish pond 11 by 14 feet. She wants to put grass in a strip of uniform width around the pond. She has enough grass seed for 116 square feet. How wide will the strip be?"

The thing I don't get is how can the strip go around the pond when the area of the pond is greater than the area of the strip?

If anyone can point out what I'm doing wrong, I'd appreciate it.

1,000 in sales at a rate of 5% sales tax.

    1,000 x .05 = 50.

    1,000 + 50 = 1,050.

I see Saty already answered the one question.

The best thing to do, BA, is if you have multiple choice answers and none match what you're calculations are, use the multiple choice answers and work backwards until you figure out what the correct answer is.

Take $1050, subtract each answer from this and then add 5% to it and see what answer comes back with $1050.

As for the other, eh, I'm at work, I don't have time to figure it out.

The question asks how wide the strip will be, not if Doris has enough grass seed to actually cover it.

The width of the strip should be = 154 square feet.

Doris is short of enough grass seed to cover the remaining 38 feet.

Ahhhh, of course. Now I feel hella dumb. Thanks, man.

Thanks for the advice, Bookie. I'll try that on my test.

Oh, ok. My reading comprehension is all good until it comes to a word problem. I feel a little better about my final. Thanks, saty.

Hmmm...I'm not sure this answer is correct. Wouldn't the 154 square feet be the area of the pond?

The question is looking for the size of the strip around the pond.

I'm not a math whiz, so I'll leave that up to someone else, but I'm sure there's an actual answer to this question. I have my ideas, but I'm not confident enough to put them down. LOL.
