why not just buy a Taser, or a dog?

why is the first line of defense, for Americans, always a gun?

    :p

seriously tho, what is the gun going to provide you with, that a man or a dog cant?

It is pretty nauseating. But so is the fool that used to stalk me showing up at my job. He was actually yelling at me for my son still living with me now that he's 18. He acted like he he was pissed that my son is now old enough to possibly be some protection for me & still living at home. He seemed to be bothered that I wasn't living alone (because he said he was told that I'm still single), and that freaks me out. It's hard enough that my son is gone so much anyway, but the thought of him moving out scares the crap out of me with that psycho running around. It's hard to even sleep when my son isn't home.

Assuming that a person wants the responsibility of having a dog. You can't put a dog in a case and leave it there until things get sticky.

I had a dog & someone poisoned her. The taser idea hadn't even occured to me; I should look into it.

Since there is no man or dog around, I figured a gun would be a good option.

i'm so sorry you're going through that tami...!!! my gf is going through that at the moment. ex-boyfriend ringing her up and abusing her...she lives on a country property and he's cut the wires for the floodlights...her hot water service has been messed with, her dog goes wild because someone is on the property...he stalks her. i couldn't live out where she does or deal with that. she called the police a few months ago because he turned up with a couple of mates and threatened her...the police took 25 minutes to turn up and they were gone by then. what on earth is wrong with people like that...???

Thanks Tarshi. I hate to hear that your friend is going through all that; that guy sounds a lot worse than this one. I've been dealing with this nut off & on for 10 years now. Thankfully he spent about 4 years of it in prison. I met him at my last job; he was a customer. He kept asking me out & he didn't want to take no for an answer. I had to start hiding when he'd come in the store. Then he followed me home from work one day & started showing up at my house all the time. Then he'd turn up everywhere I went except church. He did all kinds of crazy shit & the police wouldn't do anything. They said that unless he actually harmed me there was nothing they could do. He finally went to prison for beating the crap out of some woman, but now that he's out he tracked me down again.

I used to feel exactly like you. Even when I was dating a cop, I was very nervous when he'd put it on the night stand next to the bed. He made me touch it and get used to it, and finally I bought a .357 revolver. I got Act 235 certified, I practice at the firing range and outdoors in Jersey, and if I hear a noise and my guy isn't around, I take my gun with me. I love my gun.

**** Tammi, get a gun. Go for it.

    im just bullshitting u...

im looking at semi-auto, civilian legal armalite rifles or a shotgun myself

Pennsylvania has pretty lax gun laws. for compact rifles, i think the barrel has to be like 16 inches. anything shorter like the ones you find in the military are illegal. and they have to be semi-auto.

or you could just buy a desert eagle .50 and blow holes in people's chest

I plan on it. I got comfortable dealing with guns when I worked corrections.

I don't think I need that much firepower. I have small hands & I'm a better shot with something simple like a 38 special. It'll do what I need it to do.

I've already told him that I won't put up with anymore of his shit. It's not gotten too bad yet, but I think it's because he's out on parole. i refuse to go through what he put me through before he went to prison.
