42 killed in Camp Fire, making it the deadliest in California history

    https://www.kcra.com/article/42-kil...-the-deadliest-in-california-history/24838602

We're about an hour and 1/2 away and the city and fire departments here are giving out free masks because the air quality has been so bad. We're in the valley (basically Sacramento area) and the smoke settles here. Sac State and UCDavis closed campuses because of air quality issues. Amazon closed their center too.

The air quality was upgraded from Hazardous to "extremely unhealthy" yesterday here. Winds this week are bringing more smoke.

Over 50 of the families and 6 of the staff members in our charter have lost everything.

As much as Trump has been bitching about California yesterday he stated -
"I just approved an expedited request for a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of California. Wanted to respond quickly in order to alleviate some of the incredible suffering going on. I am with you all the way. God Bless all of the victims and families affected."

Death toll is up to 81 with over 900 still missing, more than 13,500 homes destroyed. Rain today...first day of decent air for a couple of weeks now (we've been in hazardous/very unhealthy air quality almost the entire time even though we are a couple of hours away). Now they are concerned about flooding in the fire-scarred areas. The water could cause mudslides and make it much more difficult to find those missing.

They've been talking lots about it being a "toxic rain" for this first rain because of all the crap in the air. I'm glad to get the air cleared and hoping the rain helps to knock out more of the fire. They are talking about it being contained November 30.

This morning they say 83 dead. Unfortunately with 900something missing that count is going to rise. 90% contained as of this morning.

Today we woke up and were able to see the sky for the first time in weeks. It's amazing how a little bit of blue hazy sky with clouds can be so beautiful!! We have a break in the rain and it's supposed to return later today and continue off and on through the weekend.

One of my childhood friends was told she lost everything (home and job). She had been so proud to have just bought her own home a couple of years ago. She's got an amazing attitude and told me - hey now I can say I survived a fire! The other day she told me they then told her that her home may have made it. She was in limbo not knowing. I haven't been able to reach her since then. Hopefully, she will know and I can get an update this weekend.

The things married people do on the internet and social media...even sane and sober looking ones...
It has just become way too easy to balance way close on the edge (and further) of infidelity.

Lamont Hill fired from CNN for saying Palestinians deserve equal rights = Market power in action.

What I read their justification for his firing was the wordage he used, apparently, he said something that is verbatim from what anti-Israel extremists have said.

What did it was when he called for countries to divest from Isreal. They say when he used the words "from the river to the sea" that it was code for distruction of Isreal. I doubt that to say the very least.

What happens when people actually use code against black folk? Not a damn thing.

Again market power is at play. It's what matters in this world. Collectively black folk have money, but no market power. Gotta look at ourselves for that reality.

That last purge movie was off the chain. Ban guns in your own state. We're good here. Lol

Yeah, the PC/safe/moderate/middleground statement MLH should've gave in that speech was that he supports a 2-state solution.

    True.

I don't know why no one hasn't suggested that Jerusalem become a country like the Vatican. There is no way either side is going to come to an agreement on the dome if the rock. Which is holy in both religions because of the location.

Being that they fight so much it's the only building I would feel comfortable sitting in over there without worrying about being barbecued by a missle or homemade bomb.

It's not just TV you have to police to protect your kids, look what they're promoting to kids in public libraries:

    Meh...

I remember the girls' gym teacher being a very butched-dress-like-a-man lesbian when I was in school. So, I guess this was always going to happen.

It's way beyond the old school gym teacher stuff. Kids weren't being bombarded by the details about that gym teachers intimate life.

CA is completely out of control. Books in kindergarten, regulations for the curriculum to include all sorts of things, pushing to take gender off birth certificates, now you aren't supposed to use gender-specific pronouns, on and on it goes.

The trans community is an extremely small percentage of the population and it's being represented as if it's the majority. There are parents out there deciding that their child must be trans because they want to play with dolls or trucks or dress up in clothing that may not be the gender traditional.

I have no issue with people being however they are or fing whoever they do. I do take issue with it being pushed into children's lives before the time they are developmentally ready.

Agreed and there's a certain biological denial that literally makes no sense. I want to be supportive but come the fuck on. Little kids have no clue what gender means but biology is cut and dry. Like feminism if the push is going to be denial of fundamental reality they're going to lose a ton of support as time goes on. Its one thing to say we should all have equal rights under the law and another to force people to think and speak like you.

I get some of what you are saying. At what age do you think they are "developmentally ready"?

I saw an interesting video about gendered actions, feminism, and "toxic masculinity". It discussed how if feminism doesn't want to relate actions and behavior with gender, then "toxic masculinity" can't possibly exist. I am paraphrasing, but it was interesting.

    For example...
    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/12/...ng-about-masculinity-in-an-age-of-change.html

Pushing the "toxic masculinity" b.s. on children as young as kindergarten. That's just creepy. So, I do understand and agree with most of what K says.
