Racism on the rise in Britain

European rights watchdog has charged that racist attacks are on the rise in Britain, where both politicians and the tabloid media routinely disparage Roma gypsies, Muslims and migrants.

Race-linked offences in England and Wales jumped from 31,000 in 2003 to more than 38,000 five years on, according to a report from the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) based on British government figures.

More than 13,000 race or discrimination cases were successfully prosecuted in 2007-2008, against 8,800 for the previous two years, said the commission, which is part of the pan-European Council of Europe rights body. Asylum-seekers were often vulnerable to hasty decisions to reject their claims, unnecessary detention and intense public hostility, the report said. "Together with Muslims, migrants, Gypsies, they are regularly presented in a negative light both in political discourse and in the media, especially the tabloid press," it added.

Britain is just the beginning. If this economic recession becomes prolong for a greater length of time and large numbers of people continue to lose jobs, homes, and must settle for a bleak uture then the minorities will be blamed as well as the immigrants (illegal or legal) will be targeted by racists movements that will grow over time. Look back at the 1930's. Since people do not learn from history I see it repeating itself all over again. You ask the average joe on the street about what could happen all you get is a blank stare. Watch what happens in this country in the coming months if President Obama does not turn this job situation around.

 

Should I be very worried about this?

 

NO, unless you are one of the followng: You can be one of two kind of black men. One, you can remain strong and vigilant of the dangers around you and never be afraid of those who want to subject you to fear. Know what the hell is going on around you. Second, you can be that "denial closed minded kind of black man" who do not know what the hell is going on around him. I call him the 21st century version of the slave with chains on his mind.

 

Man was 'kicked like a football' in racist attack in the UK

A RESTAURANT owner has described how he thought he was going to die when a gang of men dragged him into the street and kicked him "like a football" in a racist attack in Southampton.

Racism and fascism is on the rise in Europe so just be aware.

 

Not that suprised. I think at the moment muslims are getting it the worst though. Black people are not really a major target for overt racism in the UK, primarily because we tend to embrace the British culture more than other immigrants. We are probably affected by latent racism in such things as employment, housing etc. But that is quite hard to prove. Pakistanis, tend to all live in their own communities, and form little Lahores, and tend not to embrace British culture like say Black people. This usually causes resentment from white people. In some instances, you find a Pakistani person has been living in England for years and they can barely speak English. This does not help with integration.

 

Well, the reason why I said that, because I have very hot white cousin live in Britain, her boyfriend is black there, at least that's what I remembered. He got her pregnant when she was 15 or 16 years old, that got me very mad, but I can't stay mad at her..

Anyways..I'm just worried for my cousin's safety there. She could be targeted for that..unforgivable! That's why I feel so damn safe down here in North Carolina.

African hospitalized after chaotic British racist attack



West Midlands Police investigate an 'incident of disorder' after an African man is violently attacked by a gang of racists and told he should 'go back to Africa.' Richard Peterkin, 27 was assaulted by the gang in Spon Street after having a quiet drink in Coventry. He said: "… somebody came from behind and whacked me a couple of times…" Peterkin escaped by getting into his vehicle and moving it. After parking he saw his assailant and asked him 'what he was doing?.' At this point Peterkin describes states that "all of his mates jumped out of nowhere and started lashing me with belt buckles."

Holy shit..those racists should go to hell for what they did to this poor man! More reason why I'm thinking about not visiting that country! I will not tolerate any kind of this behavior that they told him to go back to Africa. That country should make that strict laws to prohibit them for attacking people, just because of their colors.

Racist UK football (soccer) fan banned after using n word

A Sunderland football fan was banned from attending club matches after assaulting an African woman with racist abuse.

John Davison, 26, was prosecuted after using the n word as Shirley Bent, the mother of footballer Darren Bent walked past him on the way to watch her son play for Sunderland at Wigan Athletic.

Davison pleaded guilty at Wigan magistrates court to using threatening words or behaviour in a racially aggravated manner and was banned from games for three years. He was also fined and ordered to pay compensation to Mrs Bent. Also, the club has revoked his season ticket for the year.

UK gang uses snake in racist attack on African boy

A 14 year old African boy needed hospital treatment after a gang used a snake to bite him in a racist assault. Daniel Buddington, 14, told police he was held down against a wall and subjected to racist abuse by a group of europeans who dangled a snake close to him. The young African suffered puncture wounds after the reptile bit him on his right arm. Police investigating the incident in Bristol on Saturday said: "The teenager had been subjected to racist comments."

The boy suffered breathing difficulties after the attack and paramedics feared that the snake might have poisoned him. He was taken to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol where after consultation with a snake expert at Bristol Zoo the snake was identified as likely to be a non-venomous python. The terrified boy's breathing difficulties were assumed to be caused by panic.

A 9-year-old boy who had been playing with the victim before the incident said that the attack had been terrifying. The younger boy, who lives near the 14-year-old victim, said: "I was playing in the park with my friends when a group of older boys came up to us with some snakes. They pushed a 4ft-long snake towards [my friend] and it wrapped itself around his arm before biting him."
