Hard to believe. This man was in many ways a great influence in contact karate which became kickboxing in the early 1970's, which in turn ushered in mixed martial arts. He along with Bruce Lee were the founders of what we call today mixed martial arts. R.I.P. Joe you will be missed. I wonder if Franklin Hargrove (8th black belt in Shorin Ryu) knows about this who was one of the fighters to fight Bill back in the late 1960's. I will pass this on to him if he does not know.

On another note. Jesse Glover, Bruce Lee's first student when he arrived in the United States also passed away recently. He was the the first african american student taught by Bruce Lee. R.I.P. Jesse.
