Personally, my partner has a medium skin tone, but it wouldn't have mattered. He won me over with his sense of humor, intelligence and tenacity in pursuing me. I do love the contrast b/t our skin tones - especially against his white sheets! - but am not sure it would be better if it was more pronounced.

Chris, I agree with what you are saying, but just for the sake of accuracy, according to NAACP Papers it's not correct that more than 2/3 of Southern lynchings were as a result of "rape" charges, it was approx. 13-14%.

The main cause of lynching was Murder (1,291) followed by crimes against the person other than rape, i.e. "striking white man," "talking back to a white man," "refusing to turn out of road to let white boy pass," etc., (868). Rape ranks third (581) followed by Miscellaneous and petty offense (454), Crimes against property (343), Other crimes  (254) and No offense (183).

    They further state:
In this connection two facts must be remembered. These alleged causes are telegraphed from the place where the lynchings take place and often the news gatherer is in sympathy with the mob. Secondly, if a mob is determined to lynch a man it will more surely gain public sympathy if rape is alleged rather than any other cause. It is fair to assume that in the above list the number of actual cases of rape had been greatly exaggerated.

Wedlock - that poster - whom shall remain nameless - is silly, wasting his time trying to stir up trouble. I come to this forum to hear from intelligent people like you - not to engage in endless pointless bickering. I like how fast and thoroughly webmaster cleans things up!!
Don't let that guy get under your skin and ruin your weekend sweetie!!

:D Thank you for the kind words.I'm cool about it now.I really only get going on those types of posters because this is OUR HOUSE, AND OUR FORUM.We come here to be with each other. I could care less about some idiot like that out on the streets, because each individual is free to express as they see fit.
But this poster has not only insulted the black men on this forum, he's insulted the fine white ladies as well. Make no mistake about it, none of the ladies and gentleman NEED to be defended by me, but how dare he/she/it come into my safe place and spew ignorant vomit upon my clean floors?
That's where I'm coming from. The brothers for the most part in here are regal;and the white women in here are like royalty as well. That may sound corny;but I just want to be with people of like mind without the garbage.Just my .02 :D

I know, he insults all of us with his garbage, and certainly re-enforces the reasons that we come here in the first place. I feel like when I read the forum posts it's like finally breathing deeply - relief!! I love to come here and exchange ideas, philosophies, worries and laughs with people who - for the most part - get where I'm coming from. Like a safe place where I don't have to constantly explain/defend myself.

The Attraction/The Liberation of this Forum.

:D Exactly.....that's why this forum has become so precious to me. It's a safe place to be- where as a black male, I know that I'll be treated as an individual with philosophies, opinions, feelings and ideas.
I'm free to fully express who I am.No one in here agrees with me on everything, and it would be boring if they did-but at least I can be me. What can I say?It feels good to be open about my attraction to white females, and then to have them reciprocate naturally.
Notice the fine thread Silvercosma has been putting together. You can find what she's posting in most libraries, but Silver should be given an award by us for her contributions. She could write a book with the research being presented here. That's just one example of why I am a member.
I'll step down off the soapbox, but I do get protective of my safe place because I've suffered enough fools to last a lifetime, and now it's my turn to enjoy myself. :D

I read some of the guys posts earlier, just laughable. It always amazes me how some people are rattled by our choice to date whom we want to date. I mean there are so may people making so many choices, why would anyone spend time on this website talking trash about us? I think it's jealousy, ignorance and self esteem issues that lead some lost individuals to spend their time so useless. Well I guess we will always have to deal with some deranged, bored individual at one point or another.

    :D Yes Chi:
On more than one occasion you have had the cooler head when it came to trolls. You have far more experience on this board than I do.LOL, It is funny to me too, though, because that guy will probably come in here again, and for what?LOL .I doubt anyone's going to change who they date for the sake of his/her/its opinion.LOL.

Chigirl/Wedlock - I agree with you guys. I've always been a live and let live kind if person. I usually don't really care what other people are doing as long as it doesn't get in my way - so why would some stranger come here and get his kicks from telling me what I do is wrong? And does he really expect me to give his words any weight? LOL.

I know you aren't lying, Silver but there has been controversy over the whole official statistics of victims who've been lynched as a result of "rape". Firstly, even the NAACP isn't accurately positive about them. In past black civil rights organizations such as Niagara Movement (the NAACP's old name), Universal Negro Improvement Association and the NAACP'S magazie "Crisis" have raised doubts over the numbers recorded. Whilst the number puts them beyond 3,000, some excerpts aren't quite confident about those stats as many bodies, especially of those accused of"rape", were never found.

yes of course you are right that these numbers are not absolute numbers, nevertheless, they can be used to deduce a trend. Anything else, like trying to count the causes of unreported lynchings is similar to, for instance, defining the percentage of "down low gay" black men - you can't count something if it happens on the down low, and the estimations of the "down lows" are always exaggerated, like pretty much anything which has to do with black men and sex (be it penis size, infidelity/fornication rates, sexual assaults, DL gay rates ...) I guess it's just too convenient to take unverifiable estimations (DL rates, unreported incidents, etc.) and to use them to reinforce the racist stereotype of the "black sex-mad animal" who is unable to control his sex drive. But if you look into the available numbers, you can deduce that black men are not different from other men when it comes to these issues.

When I read the NAACP statistics it really gave me the creeps. Not because of the number of alleged rape cases, but because of the incredible high number of so called "crimes against the person" such as "striking white man," "talking back to a white man," "refusing to turn out of road to let white boy pass," etc. because this illustrates all too well the inhuman athmosphere of this era, the real arbitrarily nature of the lynchings and the constant danger black people had to live with. And I wonder why this isn't discussed more often than the "lusting after white flesh sex driven Black men" point of view, especially since the latter is not supported by the records.

Its a fact....some white women prefer the stereotypical black man. In other words, if he looks as if he might have as little as an ounce of white in him. She automatically rejects him. Its the same as when black guys want the palest whitest white they can find........a self hating act indeed. that theyre so depressed by what they see in the mirror that they want their offsprings to look nothing like themselves....

I think I'm pretty fair: I like all the same things in black and white men...height, good skin, soft lips, nice eyes, good teeth...and lovely muscly shoulders!

Man, you honestly thought me something because i never knew people were charged with such "crimes" as refusing to turn for a white man. I think the primary reason why much attention is put on the whole "rape" issue is because it still exists in larger form today, compared to others. At least black men don't get lynched for talking back, for the most part, but they surely do get lynched for sexual liaisions with white women - the prisons do it.

I may be wrong but i assume it is because sexual intimacy between black men and white women is a very, very controversial topic that is interesting to spark.

Joining this topic late...but to some extent, I agree with the color contrast observation in dating, especially here in the U.S. I have a friend from Sudan who's extremely dark. His other friends used to tease him that if they came across him at night, they probably wouldn't even be able to identify him unless he wore white shirts or smiled. My Sudanese friend had told me about one of his white female acquaintances who despite not knowing him that well, always used to tell him she wanted to introduce him to her parents and that she wanted to marry him.

I'm more of a chocolate brown/dark brown complexion and have been told for some reason that I'm lucky in the sense that I don't fit the appearance of a stereotypical African, the one who you could identify from miles away or if you entered a building and saw him sitting at a desk. It's amazing how some people think.

i have a very very dark complexion, and i am absolutely honored, flattered, flabbergasted, delighted and just flat-out tickled silly that fair white women love my skin tone. i never really thought my complexion could be a feature of attraction until i started dating in college... i suppose the corollary for me would be my preference for very fair skin. though i'll be happy with all shades of white, i do prefer very fair skin in my gal.
