http://www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com/news.php my supervisor's getting on me about taking some vacation time.. so I figured I'd try to make a special weekend out of this.. ... looks like I'll be heading down to Chi thursday afternoon, by bus.. I'll be bumming around until the day of the show.. hopefully I'll get to meet some honeys there.. (must.. make.. attempt..) ..then heading back to the D on Saturday.. ..any forum heads who are PE fans, "come on down..." ('Welcome to the Terrordome') 8)
Now you're talking, PE over comic books, although Flav has turned himself into an even bigger cartoon of almost unforgivable portions. I met Chuck D several years ago, he's good people.
Go for it Hypestyle!!!! Remember that you have nothing to lose...If an attempt doesn't go well, you'll never have to see her again. But if it does go well, JACKPOT!!!! :smt038 Good luck and have fun!!!
I just saw Public Enemy last week at the Montreal Jazz Fest. The put on a great show. Flav is too much tho
Of course, gas is a MF, so I opted to catch a bus down to the Chi. There’s a bus line called Megabus.com that has much cheaper rates for trips than Greyhound and the other groups. It’s maybe a 5-hour trip. After settling in my room at the downtown Red Roof (15th Floor! And only two elevators.. and it’s taking too long, so I might as well walk back to the 1st floor), I got to wander around on the ‘Magnificent Mile’ downtown for a little while, basically window shopping, they have all these high-end stores like Gucci, Nordstrom’s, etc.; ooh, there’s even an ESPN Zone themed restaurant… but it was like midnight and they were already closed.. During the day, I got to kick it with some peeps who work with the band, got to meet all the crew as they were at the hotel before they all headed out to the venue...Riding in a van with Bro. Mike from the S1W's and chuck's brother Eric, a hilarious cat with a crazy anecdote about Stephanie Mills.. Union Park is basically a big public park, where the promoters had set up big stages with tarps; the crowd had to be 10,000+, it may have been sold out; I'm glad it didn't rain.. from there, I was backstage where folks with VIP tags were wandering around soaking up the atmosphere, chatting, so on and so forth, I ended up with a bunch of people just off to the right side of the stage watching the performances.. PE performed the entire Nation of Millions LP with their expanded band and more.. before, during and after I took as many photos as I could, I made sure I had fresh batteries.. I kind of cherry-picked the better photos here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v463/Hypestyle/?action=view¤t=e04d8545.pbw
