    I'm planning on updating member titles after installing the new forum software and would like to get some input.

    Here are the current titles and rankings:

    Bronze
    Requirement: Register an account
    Added privileges: Chat, post, give reputation, search

    Member
    Requirement: 100 posts or 30 days
    Added privileges: Beyond moderation after 30 days

    Senior Member
    Requirement: 500 posts
    Added privileges: None

    Moderator
    Deal with trolls who have accounts under 30 days

    Administrator
    N/A

    Restricted
    Posts must be approved by administrator

    Lockdown
    Cannot post but not banned

    Banned
    N/A

    -------------------------

    Proposed ranking system.

    Registered

    Added privileges: Post and chat

    Member
    Requirement: Based on likes, reputation, posts, time
    Added privileges: Rate posts, give rep, search

    Senior Member
    Requirement: Based on likes, reputation, posts, time
    Added privileges: Beyond moderation

    VIP
    Requirement: Paid account and/or senior member in excellent standing
    Added privileges: Private messaging, respond to personal ads, chat whispers

    Moderator

    Deal with new trolls, problem members, can sticky threads, move threads, merge threads

    Administrator
    N/A

    Restricted
    Posts must be approved by moderators or administrators

    Lockdown
    Cannot post but not banned

    Banned
    N/A

    -------------------------------------

    The amount of reputation, likes, posts, and time required to move up levels still has to be determined. Any suggestions?

    The titles can also be changed as well.

    Here are some titles I plan to use on another site and how they compare to the proposed ones here:

    Tenderfoot = Registered
    Citizen = Member
    Networker = Member who signed up using Facebook or Twitter
    Pundit = Senior Member
    Top Gun = VIP
    Oracle = Top Gun + some moderator abilities

    Moderator = Moderator
    Administrator = Administrator

    Restriced = Restricted
    Lockdown = Lockdown
    Banned = Banned

    What do you think?

    1. A VIP can be a paid member who pays like anyone can do today ($24.95 for the first month and $9.95/month recurring)

    or ...

    2. A VIP can be a non-paying senior member in excellent standing

    A member who doesn't want to put in the time or effort to gain rank can pay for VIP access. Once their paid membership expires they'd revert back to the rank they were before. For example, a new member may see someone on the site they'd like to talk to privately ASAP.

    There's any chance private messages could be available to everyone?

    We have been down this road before. I didn't use it too often when it was active. I was new back then. We do sort of have a new crowd. It might work out...

    As long there's a ignore function, I think it could be really cool

    Parasitic trolls with a hidden agenda who've made it past 30 days. They usually set off red flags from the start but not enough to get them banned outright.

    They don't believe you should be allowed to believe or do something they don't like (IR dating for example) and lack the mental capacity or dignity to mind their own business.

    From what I remember, that wasn't the problem. People would simply trash talk with others behind another's back.
    it was politics this group vs that group. not that this isn't already happening lol.

    People talk shit regardless... It would be interesting to have a private message option, I want to start a conversation with a few members over here. Right now the only way is repp and leave a email with it

    Too much abuse for it to be available to everyone. You have some leverage with folks who pay or take the time to rank up, but not with trolls or generally abusive individuals with little to lose.

    Private messages are a lot harder to investigate if there is a serious problem because you have to query the database to get at them.

    Frankly, reputation and chat messages are private on this site until someone complains.

    Why can't you just create an email account to use specifically for WWBM and post it openly?

    Sounds good. Any thoughts on how many posts will be required for Members to reach their respective levels?

    Private messages would be nice to have.. Like start from senior members, so noobs coudn't just sign and start trash talking.. And of course function to block somebody from writting to you, would help with ugly messages..
